I have a feeling Carlos Rogers will come back strong in 2013 , he has been the center of a lot of scrutiny over the defense giving up a ton of passing yards in the playoffs, Brown and Culliver havent been mentioned as the players with diminishing skills as much as Rogers has, or taken as much blame as he has ., I can picture Rogers coming back stronger in coverage and remind 49ers fans why we grabbed in 2011
He is still a solid CB , and I personally feel he will fight back hard and have a better season , and the combination of Rogers, Asomugha, Brown and Culliver on the field will give us the toughest secondary in the NFL
what about you guys ? ..which 49ers player will have a better season this year

I'm hoping Aldon Smith has sorted out his shoulder and is ready to challenge for the sack record this season. I also think (and hope) he will improve his run defence and look to carry his regular season form through to the postseason
Reckon Hunter will come back pretty strong too

Good post.
With a better DLine rotation the whole secondary will play better. PLUS the added competition from FA and the draft will really push the quality level in that area.
I'm looking for Justin to be tremendous and if we came rotate that line he'll be even better.
I'm hoping Manningham can come back and one of my favorites Hunter will be on top of his game.

Right on Vegas ......I almost listed Manningham and Hunter too ...but something tells me Manningham will step up and take the #3 WR Job and have a great year ....Hunter will also have a solid year running behind our still improving O-Line .....as Pat Summerall once said about our offense ..."Sooooo many Weapons"

CK, VD, AJ, Crabtree, Boldin, Manningham, Lockette, Williams, Gore, Hunter, James, etc. I'd also expect a 6'7" TE as well for blocking, RZ/EZ plays as well. That is a lot of weapons. Will Roman use them all?
I'm hoping both Manningham and Hunter can start hitting their strides (explosive, quick off the LOS, 100% reliable, etc.) around mid-season on. THAT would be epic for the playoff run. Williams looks ready to go right now!

I hope you are right, but I couldnt disagree more. Rogers is horrible. Aside from 2011, he has always been horrible. I remember being upset when we signed him.

Parys Haralson should come back and be able to give Aldon Smith more rest. Smith is best against the pass while Haralson is stout against the run.

Whitner ... I think the coaches learned their lesson and wont play him in coverage as much as they did in 2012 like they did in 2011. It's weird when people say he's on the downside of his career...I don't think people realize that he's only 27 going on 28 years old.

This guy...
AJ dropped that pass because he was nervous. He actually has good hands, plus, he's fast! I hope he's having a good off season and becomes relevant in 2013.

Before reading the OP the player I have in mind is Carlos Rogers as well. He'll want to show he still has something left in the tank.

Yes, there will be some competition for those yards this year!
Culliver as well, by the way. A young guy who finished on a really low note. So hopefully the coaches are working hard with him. Because apart from that I thought he had a promising season.
