Not that I side either direction as I am just curious to why and what the coaches saw in Jenkins to pick him over a much bigger and at the time considered better WR who was available when they picked. hill proved last year in his rookie year that he was not a bust and will not be , unfortunately Jenkins has not and I really hope this is not the case as I hope he can become a great piece in our passing game.
What are you're thoughts on why Stephen Hill was overlooked by the Niners and Jenkins chosen instead?

Why Niners Picked A.J Jenkins instead of Stephen Hill?

Our FO likes PRODUCTIVE college players. Hill came from GT which ran the ball majority of the time, wishbone offense. He wasnt that productive over his career.
AJ Jenkins on the other hand has been productive throughout his college career and in his senior year had 90 catches, 8TDs and over 50% of his teams passing offense.
combine that with route running ability and separation they liked AJ better than Hill, even though hill is theorothetically bigger and faster,

AJ Jenkins has been frustrating so far in his 49ers career.
We can only hope he trains his ass off this offseason, gets some report with Kaep.
But, still gonna be tough because I like KW in the slot and MM + Crabs on the outside.
Not to mention if we draft a badass TE like Zack Ertz, there will be even less to go around.

49ers basically spent a 1st rounder on a Slot wr. i just cant vision AJ Jenkins holding up on the outside unless he bulks up. Talk about a wasted pick possibly. We coulda gotten Hill, or a DE/DT Like Kendall Reyes. i'm still irked that they basically Bombed the 2012 Draft.

I'm still perplexed we didn't draft Stephen Hill. I through my beer at the projection screen at the bar I was at. I'm not trying to be a pessimist. But an Jenkins doesn't have what it takes to crack the starting line up. He will be a #4 receiver at best. I hope I'm wrong but I doubt it.

Lets see what happens this season with the 2012 draft class before we call it a failure...

5 picks that have chapped my hide the last 4 Drafts are
1. Kentwan Balmer
2. AJ Jenkins
3. Chilo Rachal
4. Taylor Mays
5. Glenn Coffee
I hated the picks when they were made and sure enought it was Flop City with all those. I hope Aj proves us all wrong and gets better in year 2.

Hands, Seperation, Quickness, Route Running
He does need to put on some muscle, and he struggled to learn the system,
Jury still out

Chad Hall had more playing time in the playoffs and superbowl. what does that tell you about Jenkins?

Your not the only one who nearly blew up his TV when Baalke passed over Hill Randle Martin & Wilson in favor of Jenkins.
If the Jets are bidders on AS would like to see Hill coming back in any trade package. He is exactly what the offense needs a big RZ deep threat wideout to play outside with Crabtree.

Yeah, I was a little surprised we went with yet, another mirco-WR. We already had Williams (same player) and we tend to play a lot of bigger, physical defenses...hello, we play Seattle twice a year AND we run a WCO. You need bigger bodies out there that can body-up and take hits across the middle and block very well. Jenkins in the slot sounds nice but we still need a Bowe opposite of Crabtree now and like another alluded too, Jenkins/Williams will be on the field even less if we finally get that 6'6" athletic, sure-handed TE esp. in the RZ.
That said, out of the Q, we "could" use Jenkins like how the Vikings use Harvin...line him up in the backfield next to CK and Gore/James/Hunter to create major mismatches out of the backfield. That said, if Roman didn't use him THIS year like this, I doubt he'd use him like this going forward...but we shall see.

I think that had more to do with having insurance at PR, Ginn was dinged up a bit
