I believe it was best for us to make it to the superbowl. It was good for this franchise and great experience for the players and new front office team. Granted it was a lost but still I enjoyed the personal experience of us being there again. I do prefer the 1 week in between the superbowl as supposed to the two weeks worth of garbage though. Like many it is wise to get some down time. With age comes experience I have watched all the sporting programs ESPN etc and to their credit they have praised the NINERS. Guys I know it hurts but it will get better.

i scoffed at tom brady for saying last year he'd rather get there and lose then not get there at all. after going through it, i agree with him. i enjoyed the week leading up to the sb and thats something you usually detest if you've been eliminated in the previous round.

I don't really care about our Super Bowl record being 5-1. I am still upset we just didn't win it all. Obviously the deeper into the playoffs you go a loss is harder to handle... but wins are that much sweeter. This team was 5 yards away from taking the lead. It was an incredible 2nd half to root for. I had a blast up until that last offensive drive was over.
Am I happy we lost the Super Bowl? No, not at all. But am I happy we won the NFC? You bet I am. To me a loss in the NFC Championship would of been a failure of a season. A win there and almost epic comeback in the Super Bowl proves Harbaugh made the right choice with Kaep and that we will be the team to beat in the NFC in 2013.
In sports, there are many ups and downs. Almost always there are more downs than ups... but the ups are so good... I'll take the downs. It was a very fun year that ended so close to a world championship. I can only hope we are in the same opportunity next season... 5 yards away from #6.

I am sick to my stomach about the loss. I feel like my heart got ripped out of my chest and stomped on. I will never get completely over the loss. I am just trying as hard as I can to move on from it. About the 5-1 record now in Super Bowls... I live in Wisconsin and would say 5% of people knew the 49ers were 5-0 in the Super Bowl before they won the NFC Championship Game.
Did you guys know the Chicago Bulls are 6-0 in the NBA Finals? I'm willing to bet a lot of you didn't know or even care. That is the exact way fans of other teams feel too. The record for me isn't as big a deal as I thought it would be. I have only been alive for 2 of the 49ers Super Bowls and wasn't a fan of football until the Catch 2, where I found myself routing against the team that plays in the state I live in. I was 8 years old and have been a huge fan ever sense.
I am so upset about this loss still. My roommate turned on NFL Network last night and it wasn't even about the Super Bowl, but I just felt sick to my stomach.
This team is so good and has a great chance to be back next season.

If there was a team in the league that can take a SB loss and have a legit chance of making it back it'd be the 49ers. If Balke wanted to, he could return the exact same team next season. Of course that won't happen because Balke will improve the team (defense). Keep your head up fellow 49er fans.

Its been different these past couple of years. I'm from the central coast and I've been a Lakers, Niners, Dodgers, and a Chivas (Mexican Soccer Team) Fan since I was a kid. I didn't fall into football until i was 15, when the Niners had that great comeback against the Giants only to lose against the Bucs. We all know how abysmal the following years were, but I loved watching the team. I just loved watching football, even when the Lakers were tearing it up and winning championships, I always enjoyed watching Niner games more. I would not miss a game.
After every season, all I could do is wait for the draft. Now its different. These past couple of years has made being a Niner fan really fun. Its been the highlight of my fanhood. I can't wait for next year but not for the same reasons I had before, this time I can't wait because none of my other teams can fill the void my Niners fill. I know we lost, and hell yeah it hurts, but dang, has it not been fun?? I know it has been for me.
I cant wait for next season, for free agency, for the draft, just to see the exciting pieces Balkee will add to this team. I can't wait till i see that first snap Kaep takes under center and darts one to Crabtree, or maybe Davis, Manningham is not going anywhere, who knows maybe to Quinton Patton from Louisiana Tech, or maybe just maybe, AJ Jenkins.
Smile on, fans. It's gonna be alright. If I can be optimistic and look forward so can you.

Too take it this hard for this long ....well that is a sign of a real fan. You do know your in the early stages of grief. Denial and Anger.
I'm already in the latter stages of Acceptance, which means I'm less of a fan than you. Hats off to you.
