How many comebacks did Alex have last year?

How was the D in the last 5 games of the season?

The D gave up 34, 42, 31, 24, 34 points in 5 of the last 6 games (there was a pick 6 and a KR in there somwhere). Is that top 5 to you, sir?

Our D took advantage of weaker offensive teams. Good offensive teams did quite well.

As far as Smith's comebacks... where were they this year? Still, Colin's have been far more impressive since he had to come back from larger scores under tougher circumstances against better defenses and actually had to push the ball downfield and use his legs whereas Smith was able to use the running game and a record breaking kicker to help him.

There is no one on this planet besides the few that live on this board that think Alex could come back against Atlanta or Baltimore...those games would have been blowouts IMO just like the Giants game this year. Smith has not done well against good defenses.

34, 24, 31, 13, 42 were the last 5 games.

3 of the last games were against playoff and obviously SB will caliber teams...they will score.

Do you not see what you are doing now? First Alex could only win with good ST and D. Now the D is only good when they play bad offenses in your eyes. Are you that biased that you can only give credit to 1 player on the team?

Because Alex didn't have to come back from being down that much this year it means he cant do it now? But Colins were prettier to you so it means they are just better.....riiiight. Had Akers made those kicks I bet you would be giving credit to Colin for beating the Rams as well right....because when he gets help it doesn't count?

How many really good D's has Colin played against? Baltimore was a loss, Sea was a loss, even the Rams was a loss. From where I am sitting he doesn't do very well against them either.

Yes the D played worse but a bad 9er D is still better than most D's on a good day. Being that we have been very slow on O to start games the past few weeks....the blame falls on both sides of the ball. If the O was playing the first half like they have played the 2nd half the score would be much different.

We've started slow on offense for a long time now. That is nothing new. We haven't been known as an offensive team since T.O. This year towards the end of the half, the scores weren't 10-7 or 13-6 or 7-0.

We had to turn on the juice to come back in a lot of games where the D was lost. We were more explosive when called upon. When we needed that against Giants and Minn, it was no where to be found. We were left with interceptions, sacks and fumbles. We never even got close because our D couldn't stop anything.

Giving up a 31-3 lead, down 17-0 to ATL, and a back and forth battle with Aaron Rogers and we were never out of it except for Seattle. And as bad as that Seattle game was, it was still better then four of Smith's starts (Jets, Giants, Minn and Seatte).

Well, one experienced veteran guy had the #1 rated defense, kicker and return team and got as far as the NFCCG.

The other guy making only his 10th start didn't have any of those luxuries and still almost pulled off a Superbowl win.

This is futile though, I wish Alex Smith all the best in his next stop and hope all his supporters here will support the 49ers with Kaepernick. Because neither he or Harbaugh are going anywhere anytime soon.

"...almost pulled off a Super Bowl win". Almost as in close only counts in horseshoes? Fact is he didn't come through when it counted. He didn't get those 7 yards he needed to be great. Like Don Meredith used to say, "Another 3 yards and I would have been Bart Starr". Time will tell if we have Don Meredith or Bart Starr. In the meantime let's hold off on the Second Coming routine.

If we are supposed to be more explosive with Keap than we shouldn't be down every week.

How is a Smith win worse than a Keap loss?
Lol...still debating ridiculous little details about a guy who isn't going to be on our team.

How about "thanks for what you did...sorry things didn't work out...wish you the best...."

/thread. Move to FA section.

agree.

This is ridiculous. Can't believe i fell for this old trap. I was doing fine too.

Y2R OUT
Holy cow, I come back and it's a Kaep vs Smith debate again. I merely wanted to compare the style of offense and how it affects the flow of the game. We all know the flow of the game affects scoring due to time of possession and how long either the offense or defense is on the field. In any case, alot of our comebacks were aided in the second half by defenses playing soft due to large leads. We seem to have difficulty scoring on press coverage, mostly in the first half. That said, I am confident in the future Kaepernick will bring us back to the Promise Land.

There's no point discussing this further with you. You're simply a dishonest person to argue with. Everything's a contradiction.

Your buddy is gone. You will either have to deal with it and root for the rest of the players on this team or follow him to the team he ends up with. Get over it. He is gone.

We're done here.

Yeah. They may request more than usual since we have more picks than we need.

Obviously, they won't get much for him since he sucks..why bother?

LOL

This is a really stupid statement . You expect compensation for a qb who played atrociously? Why? How does that even make any sense at all. You give him zero credit, call the guy all sort of names and want a GM and or owner of another NFL team to give something for him?

Why even make a statement like that?

I think we will get something for Alex and that would be good for our team!

I'm not even sure about that.

what you think it will take 3 years?

Stop.

I don't see where the dishonesty is. This kind of attack gets you 25%.

"He is gone," unless your name is Baalke you don't know this. And, as I have said before, the implication that another poster will stop supporting the team and shift to another team is unpleasant and offensive. Do it again and that will get you another 25%.

If you can't discuss the matter reasonably stay out of the thread.

And this applies to everyone.

Optimism isn't necesarily the same as "the second coming"

I have cause for optimism with Kaep I never had with Smith, and if getting closer to a SB win doesn't count for anything i guess you'd be just as happy with 1-15.

How optimistic were you with with what you saw after Smith's first 10 starts ?

If you are going to continue this ridiculous and divisive argument, perhaps you could contrast the two teams and their coaching staff. Otherwise your question is meaningless.
