Also for the record I think Alex should have gotten a podium considering he is a team captain.

Deon is a d1ck for trying to get alex to say something negative. Alex is smarter than that.

Deion is a dick, period.

He is part of Ray Lewis' "only god can judge me brigade" along with Michael Irvin and the other ex felons.

Yeah I was just watching that on tv and it definitely seemed like deion was baiting Alex smith to say something bad. Alex wasn't taking it though.

Deon has always been a dick....and a hell of a player.
Jed York was on Coach & Company talking about keeping Alex being a real option.
He also said that neither Smith nor his actual peeps have said anything about wanting a release. That story seems like something a hack made up to stir the pot during media week.

I suspect that Alex has not said one word about it... I suspect that the media just put it out there without a leg to stand on...but that it is based on common sense.

I would be surprised if Alex didn't make a big push to get traded or released after the SB.

They have both acknowledged it. You can see the communicating on the sidelines with each other.

There is no way he can audible 40% of a game (correctly) without input from Alex. If anybody knows what a Nolan D can do its Alex.

Dude would make a fantastic coach if he were to pursue that after playing. Many people dogg on others for being an Alex Smith fan, but things like this are exactly why I am such a huge supporter and always will be. When/If I ever have kids Alex would be a great role model to them. We all go through our hard ships, we all get kicked while we are down, but it takes true character and a unique individual to deal with it with class and self respect. Alex not only is there for his team mates he is also there for his community who many have ripped his head off for the past 7 years. He's started charities, he helped look for that lost girl, he's involved in political actions, he donated half a million dollars to his Alma Matter. He doesn't act with animosity, doesn't hold grudges, and doesn't throw people he respects, or even doesn't respect under the bus.

To me it's just a little more than about football. Guy has a heart of gold, and it sucks to see his 49er career end the way it did, but even as he says he is just hitting his prime. People think Alex won't help a team, but riddle me this. To you really see Alex coming out and playing careless football? Making Romo mistake? I don't. I see Alex playing just as well as he played here. Possibly with a fresh sheet and maybe completely new surroundings he could be the QB many thought he would and could still be. Drew Brees did it, Kurt Warner, Trent Dilfer and so on. Sometimes a change of scenery is all a guy needs.
I'm just interested in how cool it is that Alex behaves this way under such a catch 22 situation. He gets to remember he was replaced for the rest of his career because he will be linked to Kaepernick forever. He still responds like an exceptional human being and can now look at the situation from the angle that he not only did a lot of the work to get this team to this point he may have contributed to a young player's career who has a lot of potential. Alex Smith will have a bright future regardless of what team he plays for and even after he retires. Nobody can deny the character he has.

Maybe a little over the top but i'm impressed.
"I still rely on him to form and shape the game plan," Roman said.
