2011 team or 2012 team?

Which team do you feel would win if they faced eachother? IMO there is a massive dropoff in special teams this year. I don't see a huge improvement in the passing game. It's in the similar category. Both teams had a big O Line and good running game. The defense is slightly worse this year. Where are all the takeaways? Where are all the turnovers? There was a huge amount last year.

I'd say 2012 is drastically worse at special teams and slightly worse at defense. Offense is a wash. Coaching is the same. We are worse in 2/3 of categories. And drastically worse in 1 (special teams).

2011 would beat this team hands down.

2011 would win 24-13. 2012 team is smallish & slower on defense and dare i say, worse on offense because they aren't throwing to VD and Akers has been off this year compared to what he usually was last season

They have to get Vernon more involved. Akers has taken a huge dropoff.

If we aren't even as good as 2011 how are we expecting to get to the Super Bowl?.....

We could of made it last year we just had some bad breaks. This year we can be worse in every category (statistically) offense,defense, and special teams and still make it to the Super Bowl.... Just got to get the breaks this year.... Is it going to be luck or raw determination that gets us there? Maybe both...

Only thing I want to say is let's wait and see how far this team go. I've got a feeling we are lot better and more seasoned than our Niners fan think.

Its a good thing that it doesn't matter what you see.

No offense but this is a redundant meaningless irrelevant conversation. There are so many variables that factor in that it's impossible to deduce exactly why you think the team "appears" to be worse.

The offensive line is playing way better this year. The secondary as a whole is better. The depth is better.

The only thing I see as being a cause for worry is that in 3 games this year the team including coaches has seemed unprepared, which could be caused by better opponent game plans.

The Giants won the Superbowl despite the fact that on quite a few occasions looked like complete dogs**t during the season.

Lets not look for reasons to be pessimistic, which if I'm not mistaken is the sole reason behind this thread.

That's what has me second guessing how good our defense is this year. It also seems we aren't getting the pass rush we was getting last year.

It's funny, I think the 2012 is a better all around team, better passing game, pass defense and even better running game, but the 2011 team is just the kind of team that could beat them, with a relentless rushing attack through the middle. It would come down to the 4th quarter for sure, 2011 would probably get a couple turnovers as well. It would depend on who's playing at home, oh wait...

I find it interesting that no one has taken into consideration the difference in the schedule this year as compared to last.
