When Kap start's coming in and making big plays, then things will change, until then, we're better suited to stick with Smith, I mean, we have to be sensible here, we know that Jim Harbaugh is not an idiot, he drafted CK for a reason, and as we've all seen, he's slowly trying to work him in. When he feels comfortable enough with him playing every down, then Alex Smith will be gone, until then, Alex Smith is our guy, whether we like it or not.

You folk just like arguing. There is nothing in here that hasn't been said a hundred times before. It's Harbaugh's decision and he, I am pretty sure, doesn't lurk here.
Bearing in mind all you are doing is saying yes he does no he doesn't, why not give the subject a rest until we come back from the bye? Then there will be, one way or another, something to talk about.

this happened the whole season last year, as week after week I brought up our 3rd down conversion problems....had to hear the same stuff..."but we winning"..."don't worry we'll sort it out as the season gets going, its early and it was a short offseason"...."oh don't worry come playoff time we'll be fine, we are hiding plays" "oh what? you mean we had 5 turnovers but we couldn't put the Saints away? SO WHAT DUDE WE WON!!! ALEX HAS ARRIVED HIS GREATEST GAME EVA!!!!" the next week...horrible on 3rd down passing...horrible on connecting to WRs....."OMG WE NEED NEW WRS! "...even though in the crucial moments late in the game, the passes were skipping to our WR's feet.
so yeah expect the same stuff as the season goes on...people will continue to bring up our record, until our issues...which we apparently haven't sorted out, rare its ungly head again..which would most likely be in the playoffs.
we are not getting the turnovers like we were last year.....our special teams are struggling alittle bit. So go ahead and joke about the "over reaction".
did some folks really expect that teams wouldn't adjust to us this year? It seems like we haven't really improved on passing offense, execution wise.
Excellent post, our winning record I believe is firmly attributed to our defense and we've clearly struggled against teams that planned well to pressure AS.

You want to know why everyone only counts Alex's stats after the Eagles game?
The first 5 teams he played that year all made the playoffs. Versus those teams:
0 wins - 5 losses
6 TDs
9 INTs.
Alex's running tally versus playoff teams and playoff caliber defenses(Sea and Minn this year) since 2010:
16 TDs
17 INTs

Those are manning's stats against us this last game. Not particularly elite looking, are they?
This thread has become more of an Alex smith bashing thread than a qb controversy thread. Probably because there is no controversy.
We already have thread for that. I am done here.

Yes, Smith doesn't do as well against good teams as he does against bad teams...I'm shocked!
The reason for choosing the Eagle game has been explained multiple times, but if you chose to believe it is to disguise bad play by Smith I don't know what to tell you. I have not used this stat because it was explained quite nicely by other posters...I'll let them explain it again if they are of a mind to do so...but since you just implied they are being dishonest I wouldn't expect a reply soon.

I didn't jump in until it became a ridiculous Alex Smith excuse thread.
Afrikan, to answer your question about our record being the end all be all. Did you forget that when our record wasn't good, then the team around Alex was even worse?
I like Alex, but let's not put our heads in the sands. He will win me over when defenses fear him. Until then, we should always be looking to upgrade every offseason or if Kaep is ready or if Kaep can sustain our record while learning.

Just hard to take this seriously when 90% of your posts criticize every play the guys makes or doesn't make. I agree with some of what you say but you are so overwhelmingly negative toward the man that I tend to see your posts as skewed--anti Smith diatribe.

With all the weapons Alex has, with good coaching, and a great O-line, we will finally see his ceiling. We will see if he can become a next level threat that defenses fear, or if he remains a competent steady pro QB. If Alex does not progress and CK does, there will be no controversy, but as they sit right now midway of the 2012 season...Alex is and will be the man, next season? Who knows, if Alex does not take that step, do we draft a QB...I would as insurance that CK develops.
