cept that didn't happen ...Craigs production went down after rice's arrival.
he was used less as a weapon and more as a tool.
Gore would be a tool too in the Rice years.
Hell emit smith would have been a tool on those teams.
Gore had an offense built around him...that would not have happened with a Montana or Young team.
his red zone touches would go down and his 3rd and short dives for short yardage would account for a larger of his carries.
Gore had ADVATAGES to being "the offense"
8 men in the box for 7 straight years is not an advantage.

Gore is top 5 niner all time. Defensive players IMO can never be in top five- they don't score points
LOL. So you are saying that Ronnie Lott isnt one of the top 5 49er players of all time. COME ON MAN.
Frank could be top 10. A SB win would put him in for sure.
The top 4 are obvious : Rice, Montana, Lott, Young. After that there are several people that would be in the discussion. Craig, Gore, Haley, B Young, Dean, Taylor, Wilcox, Perry, Johnson,

That's what I'm saying, as good as our D has been and going on several years now, if O players aren't scoring your not winning games. It's not so hard to understand that an O is more important to winning, than a good D.
Montana
Rice
Gore
Craig
Perry
Lott
Steve Young
Jimmy Johnson
John Taylor
Charles Haley

He is NOT the QB, if they game plan away from him and lose, there is nothing he can be faulted for.
That argument is completely false

LOL at putting Gore and Craig ahead of the great Ronnie Lott. Lott was the heart and soul of the defense that lead to 4 titles. And Craig ahead of Steve Young? Hillarious.
And no.. a great Offense is not more important that a great defense. Both are equally important. You can score tons of points but if you cant stop anyone you wont win. Go look at Dan Marino and the Dolphins if you need to.

Dolphins made it to the Super Bowl on the back of Marino and the O. Thanks for making my point.
Craig had 2000 yards in a single season, the importance of 2000 yards, scores point, burns time off the clock, and keeps our D rest on the bench.

And the Dolphins great offense got shut down by the Niners great D lead by Ronnie Lott.
Lets see if you can find ONE person that thinks Ronnie Lott is not one of the 4 greatest Niners ever or that Roger Craig or Frank Gore should be ahead of him. . LOL Way to pick 2 guys who may never make it to the HOF over the greatest defensive back ever to play the game.

I like that we're now debating where Frank belongs on the list instead of IF he belongs on the list. There is no doubt Frank is one of the best all time. As a running back he's IS the best. As a team leader he also makes the list. What else is there? Oh yeah..... GETTING HIM THAT RING!!!!!! GO NINERS!!!

Frank no doubt in my mind is the best 49er back. he's the all time 49er rusher. So yes, he's on the top 10 list in my book.

I think Gore made more differences on the 49er offenses than what John Taylor did. I'll replace Taylor with Gore anyday.

If you're the best player in the history of a team, at a impact position (like RB), then i agree, you are a in that top 10 category.
