if you we're head coach

I would trade Kap asap.. I know everybody is obsessed with his athletic ability but I honestly dont think he is an NFL caliber starting QB. and with all the hype he brings it messes with our team chemistry. im sure there are guys in our locker room who would rather have Kap out there.. all the trust has to be with Alex.

If I were coach...I'd take it easy on the challenges. I'd also take it easy in switching up the QB spot. I'd try to make some adjustments and find some more ways to get pressure on the opposing QB. Those are a couple of things I would look at.

I guess im an old school 49er fan, superbowl or bust! I dont concede that we are better with smith short or long term.Go 9ers

Kap will not get us to the Superbowl this year any better or easier, in fact it could be worse and chances are it would be. When you are expected to go to the playoffs you dont play QB swap!

I just think its funny people are saying "Alex Smith can't get us to the Super Bowl". Last I checked, he would have if not for a few fumbles late in the game against the Giants.

Say what you will about Smith, the rest of this time can't wait for Kaepernick to go through his learning curve. In case people aren't noticing, the NFC West is locked in a tight race. The last thing the team needs is a massive change at QB.

The other part of that is our guys believe in Smith because he lead the team to the NFCCG. Fans might not see that, but it is the case.

Alex wasn't the reason for almost making the SB, it was the defense, +28 in turnover margin is the reason we did so well. If it wasn't for our defense keeping us in games, we would of went 6-10, and Alex would finally be gone. He IS NOT a franchise QB. Kaep isn't either, we are screwed until we find one.

This is silly. We wouldn't have been screwed were it not for the punt return mishaps which were completely out of Smith's control. So would Smith have been the main reason we would have gone last year? No. But is he the reason we didn't? Also no. So how the hell are we 'screwed until we find one' when we were extremely close last year with the only reason we didn't not being his fault? Makes no sense.

How bout the play where kw had everyone beat for a td and alex smith over threw him by a mile. He hits that play were in the superbowl. And there a lot more smith could have done. If we had a real qb last year we would be sittin pretty with 6 rings.

Pretty sure that leonard played the rest of the game. Will go back and check. I know leonard gave up a sack.

Edit: Nope, didnt see Kilgore in there... just seen leonard get beat on another play but kap got it out quick.

Davis was in at RG

We had the lead at the end of the game and the turnover cost us the game. If you cant say KW 2 ST turnovers cost us then its just blind hatred.

My mistake. I thought I remembered one of the guys say something like with Staley out that moves Boone to LT and brings Kilgore in to RG. Maybe it was in a jumbo package.
I would not be freaking out after going 4-2 to start the season... putting up an NFL record 300 rushing and 300 passing in one game... beating 2 teams that were playoff teams a year ago... beating the crap out of the NFC East leading Jets... having lost to the defending super bowl champion and division leading Giants... and my other loss being to what appears to be a very good playoff caliber and possibly NFC North champion in the Vikings.

Is there work that needs to be done... yes, but this is the ultimate parity league... if you let ONE game determine your season, you're in for a long season.

If I were the head coach, this would be me -

I agree with everything you said. Great thread imo. I just can't stress it enough that we need to start firing shots deep downfield. Like Aikman said yesterday during the game. The Giants are #1 in the league for biggest plays given up. So it makes absolutley no sense we did not keep rocketing shots to Moss and Manningham. Especially since VD was triple teamed the entire game
I would resign and hand the job over to Harbaugh... The guy is 18-6 since he joined, including the playoffs, and knows what he is doing. Trust is the key.
Fix the pass rush, look to keep the DLine and OLB's fresh.

Use the available weapons, Moss, Jenkins, LMJ, no point having them and not using them.

Stop the QB caroussel; we have become the Jets west, actually worst than that.

Make personnel changes that will allow us to fix the ST; we are carrying too many RB's and WR's that are not contributing at all.

What changes would you make? Everyone knows the first change I would make. I would let alex play seattle then during the long break get kaep ready to start the next game. .

And when Kap makes rookie mistakes whats the next great idea?

Tolzien. Championship.
