Our safeties have played well.
If you give me a choice, both for this year and moving forward, of Goldson/Whitner or Thomas/Chancellor, I'm taking Seattle's safeties every single time.

I think if we choose Bowmen we could probably afford Goldson. But if we choose Bowman, then we might have a problem signing Goldson.

I think Seattle's tandem is better but we're top 5 for sure.

Can't say I disagree. Thoughts? If Goldson continues his ascension he might grab the torch from reed and Troy P as best safety in NFL.
Reed and Troy are really aging too

Would you consider Goldson a fast free safety? It seems to me like he's always flying around out there. His combine 40 yard dash was like 4.6 and his pro day was 4.53.
He's always had great range and closing speed. I'm not sure if that's a one to one translation to being track fast however.

Goldson has good build-up range.. pretty fast, but not especially agile with footwork ( plant and go or change of direction ).

We are pretty good there. Goldson is till underrated on this board. He was monster last game. Running 15 yards to the line of scrimmage and making tackles. Intercepting passes. No we can't easily replace him. We need him.

They've looked great so far this year.
I don't think they were really consistent last season, though.
I'm going to wait and see if they can keep playing the way they have before I make a judgement.

Right. Pretty much what I was trying to convey.

My opinion from watching Whitner a little in Buffalo is he was pretty average at best. He was a solid tackler though. Under this coaching staff he has blossomed though. I think Goldson is the more physically talentent of the two but I think a lot of there successes can be attributed to the defensive scheme.

It is going to be though to keep both Bowmen and Goldson. I'm glad we have Gire and Venrom locked up.
