San Francisco 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir had a strong response to former 49ers wide receiver Terrell Owens after the Hall of Famer claimed he could replicate what veteran wide receiver Mike Evans has been doing on the field this season.
"😂😂😂😂. Mannnn noo you cant," Lenoir wrote on his Instagram story.
The response came after Owens shared his thoughts on the Get TO The Point podcast, saying he believes he could do what Evans has been doing for the 49ers this season.
The 33-year-old Evans is in his 13th NFL season and his first with San Francisco. Owens, meanwhile, is 52 and hasn't played an NFL game since 2010, though he's repeatedly said he can still compete at the highest level.
"We were watching the game. Mike Evans was playing, and I was like, 'Look at his routes. I can do that,'" Owens said. "It's not like he's blazing speed. He just knows how to run routes, knows where to go, and then the quarterback can save you. He was just catching some average plays."
Podcast co-host Chris Spencer followed up by asking, "And you say you can do that?"
"Bro, absolutely," Owens responded.
Lenoir didn't buy the claim and responded more directly on social media.
"Mike 1 of 1. Stop it," Lenoir added. "Every WR know where they going. Bad Take."
Evans has recorded 27 receptions for 420 yards and three touchdowns this season. However, he will miss the 49ers' Week 7 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons after missing practice this week with Achilles tendinitis.
