The barb from Whitner is a follow-up to his comments labeling the actions of former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams as "really disgusting" earlier in the offseason before the NFL came down hard on New Orleans with suspensions.
But one can be sure the Saints will use the latest negative press as motivation. Linebacker Scott Shanle made that clear in his Twitter response to Whitner's comments Tuesday:
"guy needs to shut his mouth and mind his own business. Don't remember them winning the superbowl. U still ringless. We got one and working on two now. Try to keep up"
Shanle has been with the Saints since 2006 and though he is not a native of Louisiana, hetweeted trash like a true local to slam the 49ers and their home state, too:
"Alright 49ers fans its been fun but I got 2 get back 2 work. That's something we do in Louisiana so our state isn't bankrupt. Im outta here"
Adding on a picture of himself on Twitter with the Lombardi Trophy after Super Bowl XLIV was icing on the cake for Shanle's retort.
In case you were wondering, the Saints and 49ers face off in a rematch of their thrilling NFL Divisional Round playoff game last year on November 25 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Scott Shanle is frigging LB, and hasn't broken 100 combined tackles in one season, and is talking s**t. 8.5 sacks in career and 2 career INTs. This guy is a scrub compared to the likes of Bowman, Brooks, Aldon, Willis and even Haralson.
