Wasn't George Siefert a rookie coach when the Niners 14-2 in 89 and won the superbowl.

Yep, and Caldwell was 14-2 for Indy (not like it was him though) so it was close to a record but 13-3 wasn't one.

Didn't Mooch also go 13-3 his rookie season? NFC Championship game loss, as well.

These guys all inherited winning teams (teams with better then .500 record) and teams with top tier QBs. Montana, Young and Manning
Harbaugh was the first coach to go 13-3 from a sub .500 team with Alex Smith.
