Make Dashon Goldson the highest paid safety in the league?

That's probably one reason they don't want to give him a long term deal.
It makes sense for vets to hold out, the cap is supposed to jump like 20 million when 2014 hits, thats why Brees is where he is, and we can always tag him again next year, would only be his second tag so it doesnt make sense for the 9ers to pay him
I put in a post earlier asking people to keep it cool, but it looks like something went wrong and it didn't send.

So, one more time, just like the other threads where tempers start to fray a little, KEEP IT COOL. Whether another another poster agrees with your assessment of Goldson is not worth 25% and a possible cooling off suspension.

Keep it cool, stay on subject and don't get personal.
Chillaxe yall

Again, WHO THE f**k ARE YOU TO SAY WHAT IS CONSIDERED "GREED" FOR ANOTHER MAN.....YOU ARE NOT HIM! You are not part of his family. This is his life...you have your own.

So you think being offered seven million and turning it down because you want eight isn't being greedy? Please define greedy for me if that isn't it, because if you look up greedy, I am pretty sure that its definition would pretty well cover that. The guy is a decent safety with plenty of room to improve his game, I like him as a player, but greed is greed, no other word for it man.

Here is my guess of how Goldson is handling the negotiations.

DG - "Hey agent dude. Can you get me a ton of money?"
AGENT - "Absolutely. That's my job."
DG - "Cool bro. Handle it."

There you have it.

Lol first of all you have no idea if that is even true. Secondly, you can hardly call that greed when you are talking about a mans profession. Most of these players get ONE large contract throughout the corse of their ENTIRE professional careers.
Goldson is the definition of a 'game-changer.' Sadly, its not always positive. He makes great plays but his reads are sometimes head scratching. His tackling is not always spot on & his coverage is average at best. I think is easily a top 15 safety with potential to rise higher. With that being said, he is no Eric Weddle. To be honest, I don't even view Goldson as a FS. He reminds me a SS with the way he plays. I'm not saying Goldson is a liability in coverage...what I am saying is having Whitner AND Goldson as our safety net is a liability. Both have issues in coverage & that is what really scares. I think SF is able to get away with it since there is so much pressure from the front seven & our corners can stick with their men, for the most part.

I like Goldson, I like him a lot. However, top money? I just don't see it...

Yeah it would be a shame if he had to live the rest of his life on only the at least 6.5 million he would make. Poor Dashon has to be able to feed his family right? Tell ya what try that at your work and see where it gets you, lol.

What exactly is wrong with a player deciding that he will play under a one year contract and then test the waters the following year? A team can sign you to a multi year deal and then cut you the next year with little consequence, which is why players are trying to find a place where they feel they will get the most amount of playing time over the longest period of time. If the 49ers current offer doesn't give him the impression that they see him as a long term starter then why would he commit to them?

Absolutely nothing, my only thing is they guy is not a top 5 safety yet he wants to be paid like one. It might just be a ploy by him to skip OTA's like some other vets do, but if he is holding out for cash, I got no sympathy. I like Dashon, I would like him to be the FS for a long time, I even hope he gets paid, but just not overpaid.

The Niners actions speak louder than any poster on the WEb zone. No formal offer has even been made to Goldson. The Niners are all too happy to only pay him 6.9 million for one season.
I think this is a good business move. The NFL is cold.

yeah its just business...but lucky for us, the 9ers have been making REALLY good business decisions.

if Goldson plays amazing this year, we can still franchise him next year......only problem................we have to pay him Top QB Starter average money

I hope we can sign him to a long contract, I think we'll find a way.

Everyone should think exactly the same, and when one person talks bad about another, the best way to handle the situation is to do the exact same thing. Everything get resolution that way. That is all.
