Make Dashon Goldson the highest paid safety in the league?

Make Dashon Goldson the highest paid safety in the league?

I do still think he is the best player in our secondary. He made some big time plays last year. People seem to undervalue him way too much

Rogers is a better db than Dashon, Cully will probably be better. That being said Dashon needs to get a contract that is fair for all involved, we have better players that will need to be resigned soon.

I don't think we will make him the highest paid Safety, but think it will be close to it, as it should. I think if Goldson is smart he'll sign the deal SF is offering. By whats being reported I think the deal is quit fare. I think ultimately he'll sign. But don't expect to see him in camp until he has to be there. Until them we get to see what we have in Trent Robinson.

Rogers should be a better db since he is a CB; Saying Culliver will be better is a pretty large assumption. I still think he is the best player in our secondary; if your lucy enough to land a good safety u pay him...
Bottomline: I think we would have a really difficult time winning a SB in the next two years without him. Dude is an enforcer. Dont think WRs aren't aware that Goldson is coming when they catch the ball. He is a real game changer. Six interceptions (spare me the luck talk) and countless turnovers and dropped passes due to savage hits. I think he's ascending. 7 million is legit, 8 is too much.
We should re-sign or trade for Nate Clements and have him move to the free safety position. He was not always the best cornerback, but I'm sure his coverage is much better than Dashon and he can hit pretty hard and on target. I remember some of his tackles looking like a heat-seeking missile out of a silo. And he knows how to play Larry Fitzgerald. He got shut down for 3 years against Spencer and Clements before 2011.

Really not a terrible idea. Wouldn't be a bad 2 year competition idea if Goldson continues this. He did this already last year and I really don't want them to invest 7 million a year on him. I love him as a player but I don't think he's worth that much as this team has bigger needs coming up.
Any new info yet? Isn't the cutoff date where teams can sign their tagged players coming up pretty soon?

Believe it is July 16th.
"The safety position is currently undergoing a re-evaluation in the NFL. In-the-box defenders geared towards defending the run are diminishing in value, while athletic, coverage-oriented safeties are in high demand.

The supply of safeties who are big enough to match up against modern tight ends as well as athletic enough to cover quick slot receivers lags severely behind the demand, forcing teams to invest heavily in the position; Tampa Bay used the seventh-overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft in order to ensure that they landed Alabama safety Mark Barron this past April."

Clements is under contract with Cincinnati for another year.
Dashon to play under Franchise Tag...

Goldson on the July 16th deadline to sign his tender. "Hopefully things will get worked out but if I have to play for the tag, so be it"
Help the Niners win a SB. Get his big payday after. Win-win.

"I'm hoping something long-term will happen," 49ers safety Dashon Goldson told Randy Cross and Alex Marvez of SiriusXM NFL Radio on Tuesday night, via Marvez's double-dipping article at FOXSports.com. "I'm not taking anything personally. I look at it as a business move on [San Francisco's] part. That's just the business. "If I have to play for the tag, I'll play for the tag. But any guy would love long-term security."

the nerve of this guy! Where art thou Reggie Smith?
