1. The WR's are better on paper than in the past years. defensive coordinators will have to take notice.
2. Our OL is one or two injurie away from being a turnsile. I pray that Persons, Kilgor, Slowey can step in if there is an inury.
3. Was not a fan of bringing in Josh Johnson. I would rather cut Johnson or Kaepernick and keep Tolziemn.

THIS

I don't like carrying 3 tackles. It just worries me - we should have at least 4 with other training or at least taking reps.
It's amazing how Perrish Cox is going to make the team simply because we have no one else.

I mean, the dude could turn out to be good, but yeah... there's no one else.

I think you will start to like JJ, Once you see that quick release and zippy passes

I agree about OT depth, I'd feel better if Boone was kept at swing tackle (which i think he will be)
Its too hard for us to tell if Person is capable as a 4th OT, Maybe Niner brass thinks so?

Derek Hall could be a sleeper/longshot who shines in camp as an OT, very good athlete who is fairly new to the offensive side of the ball

Last years draft was pretty amazing, with the excepton of the USC WR Johnson
One guy we didnt get to see was Holcomb due to injury, maybe Baalke nailed it with him too, we shall see

Forgot about that guy. 7th round pick... we'll see!
While i like what you have done here, we would really only have 4 WR and Ginn. I think we need to have 6 if Ginn is with the team. One bad game for a young K. Williams is not enough to let him walk in my opinion.
Well, you can move Flemming to IR!
Well AB you can put Haralson back on the roster because a fairly decent back up in Fleming just went down for the season

I really didn't think both Fleming and Johnson would make the 53 man roster. Seemed like it would be Haralson on the team with one of those two guys, and the other rookie on the practice squad. But now it looks like Johnson only needs to beat out the undrafted rookies.

Dead Money

2011 UDFAs $50,000
2012 UDFAs $26,528
Philip Adams $28,924
Anthony Dixon $30,150
Parys Haralson $100,000
Curtis Holcomb $11,750
Ronald Johnson $78,165
Colin Jones $74,172
Taylor Mays $754,000
Scott McKillop $48,063
Curtis Taylor $14,970
Kyle Williams $19,850

Total $1,236,572

Keep in mind we would have $4.5M in cap room now, subtract 2.77M from that, and we would have only $1.73M under if we kept Haralson at that rate, and $1.73M is NOT enough to survive a season in case of emergencies. Teams like between 3 and 5 million for that purpose.

My two cents: If Looney doesn't dress, then clearly Kilgore or Looney would be expected to play center if Goodwin got hurt in the middle of a game, in which case there's no point of Slowey even being on the roster. I'd replace his roster spot with Kyle Williams. I also think Robinson will likely dress as we don't really have anyone to play FS if Goldson were to go down. And there's no chance Hunter doesn't dress, he's our clear-cut #2 back, he's earned it. Haralson replaces Fleming as the 3rd OLB with this Fleming injury. I think the 7 inactives would then be Josh Johnson, K. Williams, Person, I. Williams, Dobbs, C. Johnson, and Cox/Brock. Core special teamers would be Cartwright, Miller, Grant, Gooden, Culliver, Cox/Brock, Jones, Spillman, and Robinson.

Good roster. I have to admit that I won't do one of these until the first cut downs. Just need to get a gander at how things play out in camp a little. I will say that I don't see us needing to keep 3 QB's. I see us keeping 6 WR's. (BTW, I refuse to think that Baalke and JH drafted A.J. in the 1st to be 3rd or 4th on the depth chart. There's a reason he was drafted in the 1st and not the 2nd. That's how I see it anyway.) And I don't see Darius Fleming beating out Haralson, but I do see him making the final 53 along with the rest of his 49er draft class.

Not anymore since he tore his left ACL. I'll have to regroup and do a new mock roster.
One of the biggest questions worked itself out. Fleming goes to IR and Johnson only has to beat UDFA's to get a spot with Haralson on the roster. We'll never know if they would have cut Haralson now.
