Woo glad we got a Guard like Looney, traded back for picks in 2013 then traded up and snagged the guy we wanted. Go Baalke!

Person is gonna have to beat out Looney; I see a real camp battle here. I think Beeler is being groomed for the Center spot; JH is hiding him i think. But my gut tells me we carry 7 O-lineman on the 53. Person or Looney will be on the PS.

Don't see them carrying less than 8, not with Goodwin's injury issues. Person is being developed to either take over at guard or center. Looney will represent depth at guard. Unless Beeler steps up and takes the backup C spot over in training camp, I think its a safe bet that Person will hang around.
We will keep 9 on 53 like last year, you have to keep 9-10 IMO.
Anthony Davis
Mike Person
Daniel Kilgore
Alex Boone
Joe Looney
Jonathan Goodwin
Mike Iupati
Joe Staley
and then a Veteran will be added.

Unfortunately Looney is a turnstile as a pass blocker. Not a fan with much better players on the board.
Based on what?

And this is coming from the same guy who performed all sorts of mental gymnastics to convince Zoners that we would take a TE in the 1st (even to the point of castigation), and called people like me "closed mined" and "short sighted" for predicting we'd take WR in the 1st. Trust me when I tell you Bro. that I take your disagreements with me with a grain of healthy sea salt.
For some reason I didn't see the 49ers drafting Stephen Hill either so you can take that sea salt and shove it up where the sun don't shine, mmmkay?![]()

This seems like a backup/future-development pick (which is a good thing, all too often people have a all-pro-or-bust mentality on these boards).
I still think Kilgore has the inside track at the open guard spot.

It may not be 9 but it sure as heck wont be 7. No team carries less than 8 OL on their 53 man roster.

Excellent pick. Looney is a perfect fit for our team and is exactly the kind of player we need. He's a guy that's known for NOT getting blown up in the middle. We needed a guy like that.

Well, in that case, I used to make beer money in college by writing resumes. I'm sure we can get you the job if we put our minds to it. But only if I get to shoot people with the hot dog cannon.
