Michael Vick and Brett Favre, two guys you wouldn't think were WCO QBs are/were two pretty good WCO QBs.
Sure, a guy could be an incredible athlete like Vick, but that helps him out quite a lot in the passing game. It spreads a defense out, buys him time in the pocket when those quick slants aren't open, and forces teams to really play on their heels.
Brett Favre was a super-aggressive gunslinger with a cannon for an arm, but once he learned to play with some discipline and read defenses in a WCO scheme... he became on of the NFL's greatest passers.
Kaepernick definitely has a place in the West Coast Offense if he can learn the system and read defenses.
