Do you think Manningham is an upgrade over Morgan ?

Do you think Manningham is an upgrade over Morgan ?

I personally think they are about the same so that would mean that we have pretty much the same WR group. With Moss playing the role of Edwards, I also dont expect much from the Moss. I think he will play just hard enough to keep earning a pay check.
Morgan is a better blocker, but I would give manningham the nod as a better receiver. Let's put it this way, manningham is more proven.
I was surprised manningham was only listed as 6' and 185 lbs. I thought he was bigger, with his willingness to make the tough catch I assumed he was 200 lbs plus. I think Morgan was similar in his willingness to make tough catches, but IIRC he was in fact 200+. We'll probably get about the same Production from them, but if we c
old have gotten Morgan with a fair value contract, I would have preferred retaining him.
no

morgan was on a verge of breaking out he had the most yards when our offense was still limited during the beginning of the season

we also discount the rapport between morgan and alex
Yes.
Come back at mid-season, Mario will be entering an entirely different system, with a strict emphasis on route-running. -He's going to have his mechanics re-tooled throughout camp; won't be like he was in New York where he ran 15 yards out praying he was open enough for Eli to see him.
Manningham has outperformed Crabtree before so yeah he's better than Morgan. Again, I think were pumping up Morgan a bit who's best season isn't that special.
I think that Morgan will be a bit slower next year coming back from the injury. He wasn't fast to begin with so they would rather bring in a healthy manningham in at the same price. I agree Morgan is the better blocker but I think Manningham has a little bit better hands.

If by "the same" you mean overall effectiveness and not type of player, then I agree. I think Manningham is a better deep threat and big play WR, but I think Morgan is a more reliable WR and had the benefit of already knowing the offense and having chemistry with the QB. Morgan is also a great blocker.

Overall, I'd say it looks like a wash on paper... at least for this season. I think Manningham may have better upside, though.

I think the thing that may be the difference maker is if Manningham can be a vertical threat, it may help the offense more than Morgan. We'll see if Alex can get him the ball deep... that could be huge for the offense.
YES!

This isn't even a question IMO. Josh Morgan was a decent WR. The Skins reached for him and overpaid him BIG. Manningham is a very good #2 and I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a #1 some day. He's had some good seasons in the NFL, he's young and I was a huge fan of his at Michigan. He's a guy that needed to mature coming into the NFL. Not a lot of WRs would start or get a lot of balls with Nicks and Cruz on their team.
Manningham's an upgrade for our biggest need at wr, which was getting separation.
Yes hes a big upgrade over Morgan. Manningham has big time game experience. Thats gonna come in handy down the stretch.

manningham is a far upgrade over morgan, bigger with better go get ability. someone said they dont expect much from moss.... why not? Moss first year with every team produces the highest yield from the latter years, moss will be a much needed addition to stretch the field as can manningham. vernon can as well. our rec corp is much better than last years with morgan edwards and crabtree, ending with crabtree ginn and williams i dont get some of you fans, its like your locked down only watching what you wanna watch. these upgrades are much needed

Have you ever watched Moss play? He's probably one of the most talented people ever to play football. second best reciever to Jerry Rice, almost an instant TD on a fade in the red zone. Edwards had no TDs last year and dropped a few in the end zone. HUGE upgrade over Edwards. Manningham is faster and better on deeper stuff then Morgan, and Crabtree is entering the same offensive system for the second year in a row. Recieving corps is much better.
