OK, now before you say how ignorant i am for saying that not landing manning is a good thing, Let me explain my reasoning behind why i believe this.
First off yes we were one game/two fumbles away from going to the SB. If we had Peyton Manning during that game , could he have prevented Kyle Williams from Fumbling?? NO ( some will argue). Of course Singing Manning would vastly improve our chances of Winning a Super Bowl, but with a price tag of that kind of money would our organization and fans really want to risk the future decade of the 49ers Winning ways if he got hurt or didn't end up being all that he is hyped up to be after not playing in 2011? The Niners had to take a look at him and i am glad they did, he chose to go to Denver and win them a SB haha i really doubt that. On the other hand the Niners are on the verge of being a playoff contender for years and years to come even with Smith under QB!! that just goes to show how great of a team we have put together, and will have for years to come. So when i say that not getting manning was a good thing, I am saying that saving all that money will ensure that we are able to keep our Valuable Players, and keep this Awesome team together for quite some time. Also we have other options at QB, obviously not nearly as good as Peyton , but we do have options as well a genius Coaching Staff and a FO willing to pick up the tab to ensure we remain a winning franchise. I would have been very excited and thrilled to have Manning sing with the Niners , But I am also Very happy to be able to look forward to years of Niner's success without him.

There is about 10 threads already open that this paragraph could have already been fit in. Payaton Manning is a bronco now. Don't wanna hear about him anymore. I don't want to open up threads that repeat the same ole crud. So crap like this doesn't keep clogging the top 5 forum topics from the main site.

It's fine not getting him. He's 36, broken neck, 4 surgeries, nerve damage, loss of arm strength. $96 million (rediculous for somebody in his condition). He could take 1 hit and be out for the season and his career. People want Peyton Manning for "what he used to be." No guarantee he can be that now though.

Weren't you leaving?
Anyway. I was one of those campaigning for manning. But not at that price. I was believing an earlier report about him willing to sign a low guarentee high incentive type deal. No way did I think he could command this sort of deal to become the highest paid in football again with all the questions about him. Wish we had him, but not at that price. Not even close.

Anyone else paid attention to Manning's results this season? He's having a career year. Smith has played very good most of the time, but Manning has been lights out. If we had pulled off the Manning acquisition, we'd be going to the SB with roller skates on, I have no doubt. Manning is a come from behind player, and he elevates everyone around him. Smith is good at keeping us ahead when coupled with a monstrous defense that doesn't allow the opposing offense to compete.

The question is how much is a superbowl worth? We have been lucky to have as many as we do. Most franchises havn't won a single title. 95 mil is worth every penny for a SB.

It isn't the bucks. It is the necessitated dismantling of the team of young players for one dude on his last legs.
