I also feel Rogers att 31 will chase the $ - can't blame him for that.
We's be better off investinng tha $ in Brandon Carr -CB, KC - 25 and very solid player who'd excel w/our front 7 on D.

What an absolutely ground breaking and thought provoking thread

The idea of the thread is for people to post what they'd like to see the roster look like next year, not to focus on the fact that in mine I don't want us to sign a bunch of guys from other teams and would like to see a mostly similar roster with just a few tweaks.

He'll have a first round tender, so we'd have to give Pitt our 1st. In other words, the answer is: obviously.

I want Carlos back as much as the next buy, but I would rather have a Wallace or Jackson if we can't have both. Our coaching staff will be able to coach or sign a CB to replace Carlos. The whole defense is intact with exception to Carlos, if he leaves, so I don't doubt our defense won't play well again. But to add a high caliber WR to our offense would be huge. Since Morgan went down last season, that was what was deeply lacking on offense was the productivity of the WR's. If we can sign Wallace, Jackson, or another productive vet WR and hope that Crabtree learns to create separation, then you have Gore/Walker/Davis....our offense could be dangerous.
Lets face it, after last season, nobody is going to take us lightly as they did in past seasons. With AZ or Seattle a possible landing spot for Manning, the West could again be competitive. Thanks to last season, niner fans won't expect anything but the SB. Anything else would just be a failure.

Exactly. Our roster is fine. We just had a couple injuries last year at key positions. But a player or two and we can make a run again at the SB.

I'm not so sure Ginn & Snyder will be on the team. There are a number of KR's in the draft who're also good receivers. With Kilgore and Person, Solari has two young guys who're versatile. I can see two OL drafted, as well. Need is to groom a C to eventually replace Goodwin and definitely a strong RG to upgrade that position.
I don't see both Wallace and Rogers...not only will Wallace cost our #30 pick, but will also want significant $$ on a long-term contract. Ditto Rogers, who has visions of $10M a season, but won't get that from the Niners or any other team. Only way Baalke will re-sign him is if he's willing to dramatically lower his expectations. Both guys are after re-signing Alex, Morgan and several others...there's only so much cap space to be divvied out. It might be doable, but I have my doubts. If no Rogers, then maybe another WR, OL or CB. Also don't see a late pick RB...they know Gore's showing more & more wear 'n tear, so the goal would be to draft a RB who could eventually replace him. I'd love to get Doug Martin. I'd expect Harbaugh to acquire Josh Johnson...as it is, there's no vet behind Alex, not a good position to be in. Coach was lucky Alex stayed healthy last season.

Jackson would definitely help our offense, but at what price ???
Bring in Hillis to play fullback, he will be the new "Touchdown Tommy Vardell" ..haha

My dream Roster would have P. Manning @ QB and trade for M. Wallace for our 1st round pick.
QB MANNING
RB GORE
WR WALLACE, CRABTREE
TE DAVIS, WALKER

It usually takes a solid 2-3 seasons for a QB to master an offensive system. Manning coming here would have to learn the WCO or the Niners would have to completely change their offensive game plan to Manning's. Either way, Manning, who is turning 36 later this month, doesn't have much time left. It isn't worth the risk. If he were at least three years younger, I would be totally for it.

Manning would have an entire offseason to learn and if there is anyone that can soak up and learn an offense it would be him. We only need him for 2 years. Plus, he's seen just about every defense formation out there and I don't think it would be a problem for him. The contract I would give him would be incentive based on play performance. It's a risk I admit because of his health but the reward could be back to back SB victories.

no thank you.
making Mike Wallace the highest paid offensive player on the team AND giving up a 1st rounder? Pass. No big splashes in FA, re-sign our guys, continue to draft well, and sign 2nd-tier players that fit our system and don't break the bank.
