ccording to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com, he doesn't, "see any way he's back there. The Chargers won't franchise him, they've come out and said that." Indeed they have, as well as saying that the current deal Jackson wants, a five-year, $50 million contract, is too much for them. The only way Jackson is going to remain with the Chargers is if the two sides are able to negotiate a cheaper long-term dealRead more: http://www.fantasysp.com/player/nfl/Vincent_Jackson/461540#ixzz1luKAG7wY

Not for a guy that does not always play hard.
Trent Baalke said two years ago that the problem with FA was that you pay the very top market value for a guy who you hope will have an even bigger year for you than he has had in the past. He went on to observe that that is not what you get in most cases.
You don't make money betting on the long-shot exceptions.

NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora suggests the 49ers and Rams as two suitors for free agent Vincent Jackson this offseason.
The Niners desperately need a vertical threat opposite Michael Crabtree while the Rams need to rebuild their wide receiver corps for Sam Bradford. "Those are the kind of teams I could see trying to go big for Vincent Jackson," said LaCanfora. The Chargers have indicated that V-Jax will not be franchised, but they are now open to a long-term deal.

I think we should sign our own guys then go after a cheaper guy like Meachem, he is younger and has been more durable health wise than jackson, unlike Ginn Meachem is a speed guy who can actually run routes and catch the ball

30 million to spend on Alex, Rogers, Goldson, and Brooks. Don't forget Morgan and all the special, special teamers. Still not enough.

It should be enough to keep the team together and signing some 2nd tier FAs, I dont think we will be making any big splashes in FA this year

I imagine this is the figure before cuts and restructuring. There's some dead weight to get rid of in terms of contracts, like Shawntae Spencer.
