He wont get suspended. Edwards didn't get suspended over his DUI and he already had previous run-ins with the law. Aldon will be in the Substance Abuse Program though it sounds like he wont make that dumb mistake again.

Goodell would have to be feeling fairly froggy to do anything. More then likely Aldon will he plead not guilty or no contest and get probation and the SA program, if he got suspended it would be for 1 game. Aldon out for 1 game wouldn't kill us

yea i kinda thought that too that maybe aldon is so deadly at getting the QB bc he is well rested and he comes in on downs whens the offensive line are tired and beat up. But i think Aldon is gonna spend the whole offseason getting conditioned enough to still have the explosiveness that he would if he werent playing the previous downs
I am by the no means demeaning his achievements in any way...the man is a monster and a future hall of famer but he def need to get a part time replacement for brooks if he leaves bc we want aldon to have enough energy to get the QB the whole game

Slow down the hall-of-fame stuff. Also I want to see what Aldon does without Justin on the field. Unlikely because Justin hardly ever comes off.
Great combination no question. He needs to pick up a move or two. That inside stunt and bull rush is pretty good though. I definitely want him on the field more and Harbaugh has got to be thinking the same thing. Him and Ahmad Brooks on the field with Haralson in support is pretty good. We've got good depth. I hope we can keep Grant and Brooks for a few years.

bill walsh built his roster to have alot of depth on the dline, and when the opposition was trying to come back late in thegame, he was rotating fresh dlineman (at least fresher than the guys blocking them) to generate the pass rush...same principal helped aldon i think

Part of me thinks using him as a situational pass rusher is a good idea. His legs are fresh late in the season. And late in the year. But he will probably start because we will need him too. He's not the most stout run defender. He's more of a great pass rusher. Thus the situational role.

But i am hoping Aldon will be able to recognize and learn the nuances of playing a 3-4 OLB and become a complete player.
Very true about Aldon, but wasn't the same thing said about Manny Lawson? I still don't get why Haralson would be kept over Lawson, considering Lawson was more versatile all across the board in what he could bring to a defense (run support, coverage, sacks).

ROTY vote became easy with Aldon's actions in Florida.

The voting was done before his DUI.

I dunno. I kinda like what weve got. Parys is a beast on run downs. his side was 4th in the league in runs. He can passrush a bit. And Aldon coming in fresh ready to tear em up. Its perfect. Didnt we use Fred Dean like that? Man is in the HOF. If it works..why not? Specialists. Fresh bodies. Run n Pass taken care of. I say it sounds great.

he will have a full offseason to be ready for the job. Parys is a waste of space out there, 2 sacks behind the best DE in the league?

You give him the shot to start absolutely, but maybe he doesn't win it but plays more.
Aldon Smith was used reallly effectively last year. It's a lot like how the Niners used Fred Dean.
You hope he becomes an everydown player, but he's already making a huge impact on the team whether or not he starts.
My guess is that he doesn't win the spot full time, but he plays a lot more next year.
