would those of you pushing for him to be signed by the 49ers be willing to give up Carlos Rogers and Dashon Goldson to get him?
Yes and Yes... It's Peyton F#$%ing Manning ! Rodgers was owned by Victor Cruz in that game. I'll miss Goldson but Superbowl win #6 will make that feeling go away quickly!

its moot because the guy is done, even if he won't admit it yet.

i would much rather spread that money around and keep a great young defense together for years and have the chance to win multiple championships than put all our chips on a gun-for-hire and hope for a single trophy. It didn't work for the Vikings, and it won't work for us--and Favre wasn't even a hit away from retirement.

Farve in his prime can't even hold Manning's Jock strap.. not a legit comparison, Farve was older when he became availible and he was in decline... Manning was in his prime before he had this surgery... and what if he is good to go and the Jets pick him up he plays 4 to 5 more years and they win 2 or 3 Rings with him ... and we come up short with are good young defense and an offense that can't hang in a shoot out. I'll take my chances with Manning

Manning is 36 years old and just had 3 major neck surgeries. Even if he was in his prime before the injuries, he's clearly not in his prime anymore.

one difference between the Favre that left Green Bay and Peyton Manning today is that Favre had 3 more years in him and Manning doesn't.
Is Alex smith or Kaep gonna lead a Dynasty? Granted Manning won't be around long enough either but it could be a good start and great bridge to another QB maybe even Kaep

Manning is done. Even if he wasn't, nothing about what Baalke or Harbaugh have done with the construction of this team would hint at any interest in bringing in a player like Manning.

Time will tell!

Are you talking about Favre, the 3 time MVP that used to whoop up on the 49ers in him prime? He would wash the jock strap and then wear it on his head as a helmet.
But a healthy Manning to the 49ers would be my dream off season. With a couple of WRs thrown in.

Nope, not a closet Packer fan. I just give respect when it's due. We only beat Favre ONCE during his GB tenure. 11-1 against us. And I hated him for it but respect what he could do.

That damn Packers team won a Super Bowl with only two players. Favre and Reggie White. The rest were just long forgotten decoration.

Let us just face it. Kaep has all the tools to be a better QB than Alex. It will be up to Kaep to apply those tools the way JH wants. If he does, then he may start sooner than we think.

Let us also realize Alex is limited compared to Kaep as was Shaun Hill compared to Alex.

throwing hard is just one of a number of tools a qb needs
