I would be mildly surprised if Peyton actually plays again. The kind of injury/surgery he had is one that indicates a serious issue in his neck. I don't think he will risk a permanent injury that could involve some paralysis.

he wont come here anywhay

he needs an all pro o line especially with his neck injury
anyone know if NFL Rewind will have a different price after the SuperBowl?

also do they have preseason games as well?

I want to see every single Kaep pass in preseason...most looked like greedy decisions, more so than off target throws (Kaepexcuse?). He also had a some nice accurate timely passes as well.

The ones who like to point to Kaep's preseason play crack me up...I mean, did they not watch Alex during that time as well?

they were 3 knocks on him coming out of college

he cant read the defense
his accuracy and mechanics need a lot of improvement
doesnt have a touch pass

all 3 are important in this offense he has a huge arm but his deep ball accuracy isnt good eother

With Harbaugh, the QB competition is always up for grabs to the person who gives the best chance to win. Look at Spencer, a vet and probably our best CB last year doesnt even make a start in favor of our old #3 CB who most thought was garbage outside of playing the slot and a rookie CB who spent more time at safety in college.

He said the things he needed to say to get Alex to play well. Come offseason, if Kap or Tolzein prove they are consistently anticipating routes and making "Eli Manning-like" over the shoulder touch throws to someone not named Vernon (cant believe I just said that ) then they will be the starter. If Alex has learned anything in the past 6-7 years... it's that his job is NEVER safe.

I've been thinking about what was asked of Alex Smith when Harbaugh interviewed him (reportedly): Do you want to compete; or, do you want to wear a ball cap; and hold a clip board? I think it's the same scenario this off-season. Harbaugh may have said Alex was a long-term solution, in his eyes, but - I believe - it comes down to Alex believing that himself; and performing in that manner.
yep.. he's gotta believe it himself..

those 3 things sound more like Alex in his 7th year in the nfl

one more thing wtf are trying to say about his accuracy and mechanics????????

You would be suprised? Seriously? The 49ers aren't going to sign him to a 2 - 3 year deal with 10 million a year to have him lose out next year. Unless Kap comes out on fire and he is clearly the best choice Alex will be our starter.
Harbaugh has a "special love" for Alex Smith. Unfortunately he is the starter. Kaep is a similiar kind of QB coming out of college but is more aggressive. Still he is way too raw. Scott Tolzien is just another game manager like Alex, so there really is no competition. Like they like it apparently for years. Sign a QB that cant "actually" compete against Alex. Then you can call it a competition.

Just wondering..

Why do you feel kap doesn't have a shot?.. you say he is raw... but how can you prove that?

alex was never inaccurate did you hear joe montana in rayes offense?

he said alex had no where to go with the ball there were no back up options for him he said this offense sucks

thse were his exact words so thats why his comp % may have not been as good int he past

alex has no problems with touvh passes he ahs completed a lot this year all of them perfect
mechanics defintially not an issue

and i dont get bolded if youre talking baout kaep his accuracy and mechanics was bad in college and showed again in preseason he coulnt compete with the 3rd team D on other teams

just wondering..

Well its just he is a project QB. I don't mean he cant do it at all, but I do see talent in him, just I dont feel he would be ready next year. He is not a Cam Newton. I think in time he could probably be good. Im not writing him off, but he has work to do. If he does it this off season, shoot I would be real proud.

Right now Alex has the experience and edge on him. He is competing against 2 second year QB's. I just think it would be given to him.
