Roman hasn't called a good game all year.
I don't know why we are so complacent to be up by 4 pts, and not be trying to score.
Like at the end of the half where we didn't even try to run out the clock or get a first down, we gave the Giants the ball and let them score before half.

Harbaugh looks the guy in the eye and asks him... "can you do this, Kyle?" and if the eyes say he still has his confidence, then Jim says "get back out there and do better."
Risky, but shows faith in his players. Just failed us yesterday.
... and getting away from the run was troubling. Gore and Hunter looked pretty spectacular on some runs, and our WRs suck donkey-balls.

How many possessions did the Niners have in OT?

The 49ers can beat anybody.Ill be satisfied with that until next season when they start kicking everyone's ass. We have the best defense in football by a mile.

don't think they should have yanked williams. he is our 2nd best WR, we had no one to replace him. as far as the fumble, i am upset. but u can't blame him for trying to make a play. what i am mad about is why he was so close to the ball when he "muffed" it. just run away!

All my non Niner friends watching the game kept asking why aren't yall just running the ball. You have nobody to throw to and the run game was productive. And JH and Roman have to give up on this bringing in defensive lineman in short yardage idea. Justin Smith shouldn't be trying to block Giants linebackers on short yardage.
The play calling overall was very shaky. You can tell Roman doesn't know how to call a complete game.

Alex Smith with 1 or 2 more weapons will be enough to win a superbowl.
Seriously....our defense is good enough to win the big game if we can score more. Other teams need elite QBs to win it all because they cannot rely on their defense to bail them out.
We lost not because of points but not being able to win time of possession and convert 3rd downs when we needed most. Akers was absent for most of the game...a few FGs would have won it easy.
Put enough of a cushion on top of how the D was playing in the 2nd half and I guarantee you the picks on Eli would have come.

We'll never know how much Iupati injury may have cost us because Giants have a very good pass rush anyway. Having Ted Ginn back for returns though could well have been the difference....

when the conditions are what they were, you want the ball having to change hands as little as possible. We tried to get too cute with the playcalling. This was a game we could've just pounded out and won.
Also what the hell was that lame play that they ran with Alex dropping back and bent really low to to the ground as he past Gore............agree too cute and stupid.

Very well said!
This O is gonna rip up the NFL in the years to come if we can add a few weapons that other teams fear.
Right now we have 1 and that is VD. Even with teams double teaming the guy, he and Alex still hookup enough to win games for us.
Imagine if we had a couple or wr's like the Giants, Saints or Packers along with VD. We will be every bit as hard to stop as them.
Was in plain sight for all to see yesterday, give Alex some decent wr and we win that game easily.

Fire Roman
We should not have been in the position to allow Kyle Williams to blow it.
Dig deeper and the REAL reason we lost was because of the pathetic performance of the offense. It was only a matter of time before the offense cost us a playoff game. The stunning lack of production on 3rd down throughout the entire season was a time bomb waiting to explode, and it did yesterday. We were lucky to beat the Saints and only did so because of 5 turnovers. The Saints game should have been over by the start of the 4th quarter, but even with 5 turnovers, the 9ers offense could not produce. Aside from 2 plays yesterday, the offense outright sucked.
Pathetic play calling, poor execution, ineffective adjustments in the second half, "3 and out" in numerous critical situations. The loss falls on the offensive coaching staff. The scheme was totally off yesterday. There were several bright moments when the offense opened up yesterday, but then back to garbage play calling that made the Giants defense look dominant.
The offense needs an overhaul in the offseason, and it starts with Greg Roman.

Roman, Crabtree, Williams, Swain all sucked.
To a lesser degree: Alex & Harbaugh
I'm blaming Chilo the most! Even if he hardly played.

There are good calls and bad calls in every game. We had plenty of calls go our way this year and we watched the other team's fans cry about it the next day. It's simple: you've got to play well enough to win. You've got to play well enough that a ref's call can't decide the outcome. We had plenty of chances to win this game and we didn't get it done. In the end, we played the Giants to a dead heat and the game was decided by the first team to make a mistake.

I wouldn't go as far as saying Roman needs to go, but something definitely needs to change. Whether it's a WR overhaul or a Gronk like TE, something needs to be done.
