These guys have been beatdown, laughed at, taunted, ignored, treated like crap, have lost game after game including tons of close, heartbreaking games and when you put it all together there's this monster that has all this pent up frustration and anger and they're taking it out on the rest of the league now. They've been told they can't for so long that it seems like they're tuning out the entire world except for the coaching staff. They've seen just how low the bottom gets and I think they are extremely focused and motivated to getting to the top.


The Giants are an incredibly tough team, they've got momentum and are very good on both sides of the ball but they've still got quite a few guys from the 2007 team that did win the Super Bowl that year. They have not experienced the same amount of adversity and the s**ttiness of getting beat like a stray dog for years on end. I think that sheer determination, even desperation could put the 49ers over the top here.

I think the Giants / 49ers defense are just about equal. What you have on your side is Justin Smith, who in my opinion is one mean individual. I would not like to see him on his bad side. He is huge, and very strong, just ask Brees. It might not be the best team who will win, maybe the luckiest, or ref-oriented team. Yeah that is very possible with the atrocious calls the Giants got against the packers. However, with these teams evenly matched on offense and defense, it's going to be a tense nail biter, and that would make for a great game.

it is a little inciting when you are a Giants fan coming into our forum and calling our star QB a crybaby when he just had one of the greatest playoff games of all time and beat the best QB in the NFL at his own game, the 26 yard run was EPIC. Not many NFL QBs could make that play. And calling him smitty is also kinda inciting as well, maybe not on a Giants forum but on this one it is. Still you make some good points and yes Justin Smith is the BEST DEFENSE PLAYER OF THE YEAR.

You are so right on with this. I remember In 02-03 when we lost to the Bucs, i said to my self " No worries, we'll be back next year". I had no idea that next year ment 9 years. Hey, it's my brooklyn sense of humor, no more no less. I think Alex Smith had / is having a great year. I also think if he comes into this game complacently he'll have a long afternoon, that's all. Calling him a crybaby (which is actually ludicrous) is just meant to ....ahem...incite a little feistiness, that's all. Just want to get the conversation a little spicy, but in all sincerity it's not meant to be harmful at all. If I've "incited" anyone, I apologize.

Let's just say that if you were to post the reverse on a Giants forum you will see a lot of mean expletives, and aggressive tone. Actually for stuff far less mild than that. Ask me how I know?

Anyways, in regards to Alex Smith......we've covered his confidence issues and toughness ad naseum on this forum. The physical beating he took in Baltimore is as bad as it will get this year, and he survived that game without a "real" pick.

It will be interesting to see how this battle plays out. I think what some people alluded to here about the Niners hunger being stronger than the Giants hunger is accurate because quite frankly those guys made the superbowl just a few years ago. They might have better post season experience, but no way is the hunger stronger.

In fact I think on some level the hunger is what allowed us to pull out the win last week after it got dicey.
