Where are you getting your information from?
I'm just guessing from what I saw
How can you guess that from what you saw without any media reports of such?....
Bc I work with trauma to the face as a career.
Well at least let the media confirmations come out first. You don't know. You weren't down on the field. You just watched it on TV like the rest of us.
Calm down, hes just giving his professional opinion...if im watchin nascar and a car konks out on the track and I got a mechanic next to me who just tosses out his opinion on what it might be then im gonnna value what he said...it doesnt mean its the right diagnosis but the guy prolly knows better then I do, just as the guy who deals with head trauma for a living...

I've done surgeries on Lefort Fractures, the area he was touching (maxilla) and the concussion are red flags for a fracture to the maxilla.
From what I saw I don't think it's a LeFort fracture. I didn't see any nasal bleeding from the septal fracture and palatal separation that accompanies a LeFort I. Although not impossible, lateral head/face impacts usually don't cause LeFort fractures. From the way it was holding a towel to his lower jaw while being carted off, I thought it was more likely a mandible fracture. Either way, tough injury that will likely require surgery (if indeed a fracture).
Blizzuntz, what exactly is your job title? Want to give you the benefit of the doubt, but when I first saw your post about LeFort Fx, I kinda wanted to call BS.

Actually I think his towel was a little red. I thought it was blood when I saw it, but I can't confirm whether or not he was bleeding.

wire that s**t shut!! now we can call him D Lock
take the rams game off, we will have the bye and he will be back for our playoff game....s**t if boldin can come back in 3 games from getting his dome caved in for the regular season, he can do it for the playoffs
I guess it's a lot to ask. And there is certainly risk. But I'm just saying. Maybe you could put a huge facemask that comes a lot lower and a double chin strap to hold it on real good. I'm just guessing maybe it's possible. Maybe it's too risky and impossible. And I certainly wouldn't blame somebody if they couldn't play under that circumstance.
There are a lot of very important structures that a upper jaw fracture can communicate with, including the eye socket and important cranial nerves. Sepsis of the fracture could cause life long complications including death.
Ok so you are saying he can't....
Actually no, it is possible.
But right now I would be more concerned about his health considering how many complications can occur from this injury and surgery if indeed it is a serious fracture.
I believe Boldin had a similar injury against the Jets back in the day and returned (many weeks later)
So if Boldin did it why can't Delanie?.... You are the expert in the field. Explain it.
Think of it this way, are all bullets to the head the same? Do some people survive but most don't?
Are all accidents involving the same type of car have different outcomes as far as injuries sustained by humans?
If you throw the same baseball through 2 identical windows do the cracks go in the same exact direction?
So if a bone fractures and involves the eye socket or some other important communicating structure wouldn't you think it is more serious? If the fracture only involves one bone and a few teeth, probably less serious.
Then there are Lefort I,II,III...... I could go on for 6 years about this subject but it would cost you $200,000
I hope this is lay terminology for you
So maybe it's not that serious, they just wire it shut and he's ready to go for the playoffs. It's possible right?...

From what I saw the impact looked like it was directly into the maxilla in posterior and inferior direction which could possibly cause a Lefort I. All speculation.
I'm a dentist, but did a 2 year GPR in a busy trauma 2 hospital that involved its fair share of call with OMFS

It is possible, but unlikely
Depending on the severity of the injury, he might be sidelined for the playoffs. However, he might be able to come back sooner. In 2008, wide receiver Anquan Boldin (then with Arizona) suffered a jaw injury and only missed two games. But of course, that also required seven plates and 40 screws from surgery . We will have to wait and see what Walker's diagnosis is.

But didn't Delanie actually fly back with the team? I know that if you break your orbital bone you can't fly because that'll cause some problems, so either his injury actually isn't that bad or the doctors f**ked up...

They said on CSN Bay Area last night that he was on the team charter home
