Even if we shut down the saints and packers and then beat the pats in the super bowl, they'll still be saying "they're in a weak division"!!

Winning is winning, but recognition and winning is even better, just for the basic fact that when we were down in the gutter people loved to kick us while we were down.. That happens no more...

True. Hey man, if it bothers you, it bothers you. That's fine.

All I'm saying is, it's been way too long since the team has been this good and now they're back. Don't let a couple of non-mentions on ESPN ruin the good vibes.
another time to play the underdog card...I prefer it this way.
I wouldn't worry about getting love from the media. Lets remember, there are many in the NFL and the media still suffering from nightmares the 49ers put on the league in the 80's and earliy 90's. So for them the resurgence is too soon. I don't care what anybody says, nobody dominated the league the way the 49ers did or for as long as the 49ers did. We are talking about nearly 15 years of elite 9er teams running near roughshod through the NFL, the Patriots notwithstanding. So for me, I could care less if the media gives us respect. We just keep winning and let the media buss nuts over the Jets win, or how they are wondering why the Cowgirls can't get over the December hump, or why the Chargers can't live up to media expectations, or why they keep giving the Giants national attention on a 4 game losing streak. My fellow fans, lets just let the media continue to embarrass themselves.

Yah, focus on what you got right now instead of what you don't. You don't need a Stuart Scott "BOOYAH" to validate you.
Ok, if this was the cowgirls in the same scenario, you're all correct: they would be getting nonstop love, and I'm sure the matchup between them and GB in the NFC Championship game would be a daily discussion. That all said and putting the east coast bias stuff aside, I think everyone has already cemented the idea that the niners were the NFC West champ long before yesterday. If this had been a last day sort of thing, I'm sure it would be discussed, but the niners have been dominant all year so no one outside the fanbase wants to talk about it. I'm not giving the media a pass, but we should all know how they do things by now.

A solid victory over the Steelers with a national audience would go a long way to shedding the old perceptions . . . then again we'd probably hear more about how old and washed-up the Steelers are.

Nah, they will just say that PIT, BAL and some of those other playoff experience teams have been up and down and won't really turn it on until the playoffs.

For those of you wondering why we care about the media? Ask yourself this, would you rather turn on ESPN and watch them talk about another team? NO! I want to watch my 49ers because that's what I like. I want to watch people talk about them because that's better than watching people talk about another team.

And because ESPN would be all over a team like DAL if they made the playoffs, I am pissed that they are not all over the 49ers...especially considering the story lines we create: Alex Smith, Harbaugh, the link to Bill Walsh...new stadium coming up, one of the greatest defenses,. ...
I don't mind the media sleeping on the 49ers because if the 49ers do go all the way, it makes it all the more sweeter. Unlike the other teams, the Niners have to prove theirselves each week and little by little, gain the respect of some analysts. I just hope that after everything is said and done that someone will make a video collage of what all the analysts had to say about the Niners this season and show a dead crow on a plate at the end of the video.

I agree 100%.. I love what Harbaugh has done for us.. But I'm not inheriting this train of thought, i want to hear about my Niners.. Bottom line!
Did Cowherd actually say the Cards are one of the better teams to not make the playoffs? Please, we played them 3 weeks ago and that game should have been 50 to nothing.

Why are people so concerned with love from Espn or NFL network ?? The record speaks for itself.

Of course I'd want them to talk about the 49ers. If it were up to me, they'd talk about the 49ers 24/7. My point is that ESPN does what ESPN does. And I just choose to not let it bother me if we don't make it on SportsCenter. I already know how good this team is and what they're capable of and I don't need to hear it from anyone else. I'm just happy the team is in the playoffs. I'm not gonna let ESPN non-coverage ruin that for me, but to each his own...

He's a Cowboys/Cards fan. Which is one and the same.

Watching a Cards/Cowboys game is like watching a gay incest porno scene between two brothers.

(not that I would know what that's like)

Exactly. I'm not trying to tell anybody how to feel, but this "we're not getting any respect from ESPN" bit is getting tired...
