Why does it have to depend on the season? I think Kaepernick should play only if we have a very secure lead and only in the 4th quarter then.

There is more to a successful post season than clinching your division. Still a lot of football to play.
Relax on Kap, he is doing fine learning where he is at.

Unless we're blowing out a team or have nothing to play for I think Alex should play.

as much as I'm looking forward to seeing how Colin has progressed....we're not and should not put him out there until we have lost the opportunity of home field through out the playoffs...and then if we clinch a bye at least. The Saints are still close by.
now along the way, if there are blowouts...then yeah get him on the field. You never know when you might need him, so get him live reps when you can..

Haaaaaaaaaaaa, you gonna get flamed by the Smith,,, ahhhh nut,, ahhh supporters, ya that's it!
I vote for if we get the division and a bye let the boy huck the ball here and there..
You hate it, addmit it: Smith will only get us so far if a D like the Ravans put the squezze on Gore and shut down our ordinaray WR.. At that point.. well people, we need a QB to put th egmae at the outer reaches of performance, hit deep routes with recievers in stride.. we have heard it all.
At this point in this season I got nothin against Smith, his balls have finally dropped and he plays with some confidence..
But... I want a game changer, someone who can see wide open receivers when the sh*t hits the fan...
So ya, give Kap some play time and for a fact, I wouldn't mind giving Tolizien (sp?) some LOS time either; BUT ONLY if we are winning out coz NO is breathin down our necks and if it comes to dat, I want that game @ home, dig? Wait that would be a Conference elimination game, not garbage time by any means.
Nice to talk this stuff after the last 8 years of BS; complete and absolute...
GO NINERS!!! Lambs goin down.. NINERS!
Spelling is pretty kwell huh.. Ahhhh aint gonna fix it.. Just so you know, I know..

When we have nothing left to play for in terms of playoff implications.
In other words, if we can't change our standings in the playoffs, including home filed advantage etc. For example, its the last game of the season. Winning it can't catch us up to Green Bay, and losing it can't allow other teams to usurp our home field advantage. Therefore, it is meaningless, therefore we can put the backups in, including Kaep.

The passing offense with the starter hasn't gelled yet no sense in putting in a rookie at this point.
