This is a stupid thread! .... Why?
Because we will never ever lose a Super Bowl!!!
One more thing we are ranked ahead of the steelers 6-2. Because our avg pct. is 1,000(Perfect) 5-0

i rank teams by # of Super Bowl Wins--not won loss record---Steelers are # 1 with 6, Niners are tied for # 2 with 5.

In terms of Superbowl appearences it would. Would Dallas fans have a vaild point saying they are the better franchise because they've gone more than we have?
Because they have lost more than we have?!!!! In that case why aren't they already ahead of us?
C'mon now, you know that arguement can be made. It would be no different than the arguement made on this board if the records were reversed.
Well, answer my second question, then. Why aren't they already ahead of us?
They very well could be. The list above isn't official, its just as subjective as power rankings.
this. looking it from an unbiased view I WOULD consider the cowboys the better franchise if I was a neutral football fan. But since I am a 49ers fan, it's obvious that we are the best franchise and the cowboys can suck a dick

I'll say this, I'd rather be 7-1 than 5-0 right now.

I'd rather not. But if we made it that far that would mean we made it through the NFC and the Packers. Which is a phenemenal feat. We would be far better than anticipated. But I don't want to lose a Super Bowl. I think getting to the Super Bowl and coming in 2nd and losing there is one of the most devastating things that can happen. Just my opinion.

have to agree here. Using hypothetical hindsight I would rather lose the NFC Title game than go to the SB and lose.

I think if we lost in the super bowl with this squad of players it would be devastating to them, they would be responsible for the first ever loss in franchise history, idk how they could live with that. I think to be completely honest i don't see how this team could never bounce back from that, our franchise might have to rebuild all over again But I don't feel that this team is ready yet we have some things to clean up first like our OL and the inability to score TD's when we are down by the goal line. None the less we are having a really good year considering the circumstances, with a shortened off season and a completely new coaching staff, we will be THE best team for years to come and mark my words we WILL win a super bowl or two or three by the time Harbaugh is done

Same place as we were before behind the Steelers tied with Dallas. Outside of San Francisco nobody cares about the 5-0 argument. It's overrated.
There's a Super Bowl winner, and there's everybody else. To the people who would rather lose in the NFC title game then the Super Bowl. Grow a spine. You can't win the big one unless you're willing to put that record on the line.

I'd rather lose in the NFC title game at home than lose in a Superbowl, best not to go if the team doesn't show.
If we did go to one and lose, we stay exactly where we are, second place. I think wins carry most weight, appearances have to matter in some way, but losses also weigh down on those franchises who have them.
1. Steelers 6-2
2. 49ers 5-0
3. Cowboys 5-3
4. Packers 4-1
5. Giants 3-1
6t. Raiders 3-2
6t. Redskins 3-2
8. Patriots 3-3
