Harbaugh and company treated this game like a glorified practice and we still dominated

they could have used him more in this game, and it was smart not to. No reason to expose him to more punishment. But 24 carries is not rest just because there was the potential to carry more.

Not sure if Gore is pushing for this, due to the clauses specified in his contract.

unless his contract allows him to call plays, i really doubt that.

The bold is what I was saying though. You've checked your stats and know your stuff but it just seemed like he got some rest considering how much I saw the back up RBs in. No need to make more of it than that. But you got to admit it seemed like we opened the playbook up and stuff. This team almost never throws it 38 times, and we took some deep shots etc too.

sorry dude, your line of thinking is completely illogical. He had a chance to sit on the bench, which is fine, which is good, but he still had the second most carries he's had this season. He averaged 3.6 YPC which means that those were difficult, "cloud of dust" kind of carries for the most part. Obviously the chance to sit for the 4th QTR or however long he sat is great, because that means we were winning, but its not really different than if he had played the entire game and had the same amount of carries.

we agree that having the luxury of bringing him out of the game is a positive, we just disagree that it constitutes as rest.

eh tomato tomatoe or however you say it. I mean dudes a football player, it's not like he's getting bed rest or something. Obviously he was going to play a lot since he's the best player on the offense. But the chance for him to chill in the 4th quarter was good, plus when you have the ball for so long(like axegrinder said earlier) you are going to have an inflated number of carries. I don't really think this is worth arguing about. He did have enough carries that its kind of like he played a full game, but the time spent on the bench in the 4th is time spent resting IMO. Agree to disagree I guess.
I didn't agree to disagree!

Ugly game as predicted. Playing down to the opposition? These guys are the top 1% of thousands of college players, all of whom were all-stars in high school prior to that. They all look pretty darn fast and strong to me. How bad are they, really?

The Niners are simply a damn good team and coached intelligently. We will find out if anyone is a genius in the years ahead. Right now being damned good is fine.

IDK, but how can you explain the amount of touches let alone the potential exposure to injuries or aggravating his current aches and pains?
