The reason I only have 2 options is because, it seems like Alex is good at hitting his TEs but for some reason the WRs can't catch the ball clean. So if Alex continues to improve and our WRs stay the same will the passing game become better? Or are we just ok with our TEs getting in the endzone?

it's a combo of things
Throwing a WR open, Drops, protection, Play calling

Because Alex is improving without a lot of help from the WRs. The Oline has been doing their part, HBs and TEs have been too. The only ones that haven't really made game changing plays have been the WRs.

You can do a ton of damage with 2 TEs in the current NFL. We are a run-based 2TE team. Check out some NE games for a pass-based 2TE team. A ton of SF fans were expecting us to be the pioneer 2 TE team 5 years ago. But you know...Nolan/Singletary aren't exactly offensive minded or creative.

the only thing alex needs to work on right now is his deep throws. those are the only throws i have seen him miss consistently. the wrs are just not making the plays they can and should. dont get me wrong there are other things that have happened throughout the season but the only thing that comes to mind on a recurring basis is missed opportunities down the field.

You are right in that we won't break the bank to get him, that is because we will need to resign a lot of people. However, the eagles didn't redo his contract after getting all those players, so something has to give, and after being suspended the last game, chances are great that he is fed up with the eagles. Biggest fear is that the Rams will pursue him.

It goes without saying that losing Joshua Morgan hurt the passing game. I believe Alex Smith's numbers would be a lot better with Morgan in the game. Once Alex, Edwards, Crabtree and Ginn get on the same page lookout. It seems as if he is connecting more with Crabtree, but it still needs tweeking......

Both need to improve, the WR and Te need to go after the ball like the Packers WRs and TEs do for Rodgers and Alex needs to cut down the amount of times he is overthrowing them on the 15+ yard throws and throw to them in stride more.
Morgan seemed to be developing that repoire with Josh until he got hurt, to bad.

My head hurts after reading that.
