Yeah, but seriously I agree 100% with the OP. Too much prevent defense and conservative play calling can come back to haunt us. The danger is that some may point to the W-L record to support the notion that conservative play calling works. However I think we would have had more solid and secure wins if we were not as conservative.

It took 6 pages, but someone finally sees it my way. I also think we would have won the game against Dallas. Wouldn't it be awesome to be 8-0?

kinky.

donny you're out of your element!
No he doesn't.
Or it could be he is hiding something. Also, for the most part we are not losing a big number of players to injury

the Dallas game is the only game where we went conservative, IMO. With the games against Cleveland and Washington under complete control we were still taking shots downfield that, if connected on, would have ballooned those scores into blowout proportion. It wasn't a matter of conservatism that they weren't blowouts; it was a matter of execution.
As long as we keep pounding the ball with success and playing strong defense, we will keep winning games

sure it would be nice to be 8-0 but with that i believe comes added pressure and more hype and a bigger spotlight on the team, i'd actually rather be 7-1
I thought this article title was amusing after visiting this thread.

LB
The niners have a run first, stingy defense, win the field position and TOP type of outlook. Inherently, it's conservative. We shouldn't change our identity with a two score lead. He is doing fine. Against Philly he showed us that he can get ballsy if needed.

Come on now... you don't mean that. We want a first round bye!
A minor annoyance at best. Could the red zone offense be better? Simple answer is yes. Has it hurt the Niners record or chances to make the playoffs? Absolutely not. With what we know so far about Harbaugh, it is just another thing to work on and keep the team humble and focused.

Exactly. People forget that you can't win all games prettily (if that's a word, lol) in this league. The following are examples of good teams coming way closer to losing to bad teams than we did vs. Cleveland/Washington:

NYG vs. AZ
BAL vs. AZ
PIT vs. JAX
NYG vs. MIA
GB vs. CAR
N.O. vs. CAR
DET vs. MIN

etc. etc. etc.

Yet our games vs. Cleveland and Washington, of which we still won by 2 scores, deserve criticism? Why?
Totally agree with this
