We are watching perhaps the greatest single season coaching performance in NFL history.
This thread. Deja vu.

I don't know if I would go that fair.

I would definitely go that fair.

A 6-10 team turns into a world-beating elite NFL team with no offseason, a new head coach and new offense. Name a better pure coaching job in a single season? I can't.

Well their was a reason over the last few seasons this team was picked to win the NFC west. We had talent on this roster and some elite talent (Gore, Davis, Willis, Lee, some would say Justin Smith). We just needed an actual coach for this team, which we now have.

Jeff Ireland came to a Miami team that was 1-15 in 2007 and took them to 11-5.

Dick Vermeil took a 4-12 Rams team in 1998 to 13-3 in 1999 and winning the Superbowl.

Tony Dungy took a Tampa Bay team that was never any good and in his first year lead them from a 1-8 first half to a 5-2 second half in 1996 and 10-6 in 1997 (first winning season since 1982).

Brian Billick went from 8-8 in 1999 to 12-4 in 2000 and winning a Superbowl.

The only single season performance that would even be in the same league is that of Dick Vermeil. But even then, he had that team for 2 full years before their run. So he had 3 full offseasons and was gifted a HOF quarterback.

The others you mentioned simply aren't that impactful when you compare them to what Harbaugh is doing and the resources he had to work with over the past few months.
OF COURSE is hyperbole, but I'd MUCH rather talk about this than discuss what wrong with Michael Crabtree...again....

Are you that much of a homer you cant give credit and everything the 49ers do is the greatest of all time?
Jim Harbaugh CANNOT be better than George Seifert after 7 games! holy crap you people overreact like crazy. its been 7 games into year 1.

It blows my mind that people dont understand how Seifert couldve been responsible for 8 years of ELITE play by the 49ers. a BETTER 8 years record wise than they ever had under Walsh. seasons of 14, 14, 10, 14, 10, 13, 11, 12 wins.

Walsh had 13, 10, 15, 10, 10, 13, 10. Nobody is trying to say Seifert was better, but giving 99.9% of the teams success for 8 years in a row to Bill Walsh is laughable. George Seifert averaged 12.3 wins per season in his 8 years as HC, won 10 playoff games, and 2 rings. Walsh averaged 11.6 wins in the 7 seasons after he built the team up, won 10 playoff games, and 3 rings.

to say Jim Harbaugh after 7 games, 0 playoff wins, 0 rings, is the best coach weve had since Bill Walsh is pure ignorance.
So instead of debating if he is better than a guy with two superbowl victories in his tenure and who retired from our team with the NFL's all time winningest record we are going to compare him to walsh? Can we lock this thread. There is absolutely nothing to settle. I love Coach Harbaugh but you have to earn your way into this discussion.
This.

I guess?

Fact remains, each of the people you mentioned had significantly more time than Harbaugh. It's not even close. Hardly worth debating.

Should Harbaugh continue on this trajectory, this season will indeed be one of the greatest coaching performances of all time. Denying that doesn't make somebody rational, which is how you're trying to brand yourself. It would make them ignorant. Time will tell. But the worst part of the schedule is over.

LOL, He hasn't even proven to be better than Mariuchi
Right now I pick no. After the season is over I might change my stance but it takes more than 7 games to surpass Seifert and Mariucci.
