Did you know?

A thread dedicated to all San Francisco 49ers trivia tidbits.

I'll start:

Did you know?: The San Francisco 49ers have played only 4 times in the Thanksgiving Day game. 1947 (San Francisco 49ers 21, BROOKLYN DODGERS 7), 1966 (San Francisco 49ers 41, DETROIT LIONS 14), 1969 (DALLAS COWBOYS 24, San Francisco 49ers 24), and 1972 (San Francisco 49ers 31, DALLAS COWBOYS 10). This will be our fifth time (@ Baltimore Ravens) playing this prime time game.

5-0 in superbowls

BOSS
The greatest quarterback and wide receiver of all time both played for the 49ers!

That Jeff Garcia has the best all-time qb rating for the 49ers
Bill Walsh took over in the 1979 season, with high expectations of him, but went 2-14. Two seasons later, Walsh coached the 49ers to the first of their 5 record Superbowl wins.
Roger Craig was the first NFL player to record 1,000 rushing and recieving in the same season (1985).

I did not know that!
The original owner of the San Francisco 49ers was Tony Morabito. Tony was warned that the stress of the game put him at risk, but the Niners WERE his life, and he continued to watch the games. At halftime against the Bears in 1957, the team learned that Tony had passed away. They were down 17-7 but rallied to win 21-17 despite a strong game by Chicago.

We play or played SIX of the top 10 defenses this year!!!
How many wins do we have as a franchise? I bring this up because with the Packs last win, it was their 700th. Just wanted to know where we were at.
Every year, San Francisco players vote on who they believe deserves the honor of the 49ers annual award for "inspirational and courageous play". The award is names after Len Eshmont. Len Eshmont played with the 49ers four seasons only in the AAFL. He was nicknamed the "Fordham Flash". He gained 1,181 yards on 232 carries with the Niners, averaging about 5 yards per carry. He died in 1957 at the age of 39 of Hepatitis.
The 49ers entered professional football in 1946 as a founding member of the All-America Football Conference, which was founded in 1946. Had it not been for the Cleveland Browns, a team that won four championships and lost only four games in the league's four years of operation, the 49ers would have been the AAFC's dominant team. Their four-year record was a 39-15-2. Although San Francisco handed Cleveland two of its four defeats, they still finished second each year. The 49ers were admitted to the NFL in 1950 following the collapse of the AAFC. They came close to a championship only once during their first two decades in the NFL. In 1957, they tied Detroit for the NFL Western division crown but lost in a playoff.

Goerge Seifert attended that playoff loss vs detroit as a hometown fan.
John Brodie's #12 jersey has been retired by the 49ers, although it was worn during the 2006 and 2007 seasons by Trent Dilfer who is Brodie's son-in-law
