Who gets extended?

As long as Chilo and Morran is gone, that is the first step. Possibly why we didn't use all our cap space, some will be signed to extensions this ear. While others will have new contracts.
I personally think Goldson and Spencer have provided a good boost to our secondary since coming back. I know Vick got a bunch of yards but our coverage was good he just is great at extending plays

For sure:
Ahmad Brooks: He's finally come into his own. We need to hang on to him.
Carlos Rogers: He's been an outstanding addition. Solid leader too.
Josh Morgan: Obviously not for #1 money, but he's a solid #3 who can be a #2 in a pinch
Adam Snyder: Again, not as a starter, but he's a solid back-up who can play every position on the line.
Ted Ginn: His value to the special teams is indisputable.

Wait and see:
Alex Smith: So far so good. But I want to see more.
Braylon Edwards: He seems like a good teammate so far. I want to see how it goes when he's healthy.
Dashon Goldson: See Alex Smith.
Reggie Smith: He's up & down. If he plays more consistently I'd like to see him back, but not as a starter.

See ya:
Chilo Rachal
Madieu Williams
Moran Norris

Ive gone on record, I dont see Goldson better than Williams, I would rather have Williams, but I think both should be gone. Neither are worth long contracts.

I also disagree with Snyder, he isnt good, rather save the money, and get a better RG.
smithers in about 3 or 4 more solid games
rogers, smith, brooks, edwards, ginn, as for morgan and dashon only if its cheap

Brock is a 2nd year player. Not a rookie.

Braylon Edwards - Love having this guy period.

Donte Whitner - The leader in the secondary.

Alex Smith - Looks to be having a breakout year and on to winning the division, I'd say hes a lock to be re-signed.

Whitner's signed for 3 yrs. --> http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3691/donte-whitner

Even better!!!
i want carlos and braylon resigned for sure

eww
I think Edwards and Ginn are both MUST-signs.

We've been through too much looking for a return specialist to let a top 5 guy go. Plus, although we haven't really seen it yet, I think he's a legit specialty WR; a better version of Devery Henderson. The camp buzz about him was too good for us not to see some more of him as the offense continues to open up.

As for Edwards, that's a young-ish top 5 pick who hasn't exactly been a bust. I don't know why everyone over in the War Room is so excited about WR prospects. Unless Megatron is back in the draft, there is no sure thing in a high-drafted WR. None of these guys grades out necessarily better than Edwards. We need to sign him to take some pressure off Crabtree and keep the draft focus on shoring up the D.

Not too much to disagree with here, IMHO....except for Snyder perhaps. I would definitely put him in the "wait and see" category. We'll see if he fits into the type of OL that Harbaugh and Co. actually wants.
I agree with resigning Morgan if for no other reason than he is a terrific downfield blocker.

Nice post, Sonoco
