Just to be a sane mind here and not overtly support one QB or the other. The Yorks and the 9er organization as whole are putting all their weight behind Harbaugh and Baalke not any of their particular draft picks. Sure their goal is to BUILD the best team possible whether it be in the draft or free agency. Logic dictates that we needed a 1st or 2nd round QB but I've always said it wouldn't matter who we draft because Harbaugh and Baalke did it to appease the fan base(admit it we would've rioted outside of the 49ers HQ if they didn't take a QB on day 1). We could be biding our time to snatch up Luck, Barkley, Jones, Tannehill or Foles in next years draft, or maybe Jim is waiting on Josh Johnson to become a free agent, we no doubt tried to talk trade but the Buc's made it clear that they won't give him up unless it was an asinine amount of picks and players because they are rolling with only 2 QBs going into week 1.
I'm in no way saying a 6th round talent is equivalent to a 2nd rounder but if we we're loyal to the end with our draft picks Ronald Johnson would've made the team, especially with his WR coach form college being his pro coach. To bring up free agency we are obviously not happy with our LB group's depth, we pursued Aaron Maybin after already signing Applewhite(nothing would light a fire under a players ass then trying to bring in someone like Maybin but you have to wonder what we saw in Maybin to make a play for him), secondly we believed in Tavares Gooden's skills enough to talk trade with Baltimore and we ended up signing him as a FA this morning(Kristick was cut to make room for Tolzien so it will be very interesting to see who they cut to make room for Gooden), It's safe to say that no matter where a player is acquired, whether it be in the 1st round or an undrafted free agent that our coaching staff is doing their due diligence to find true football players.
I believe in Harbaugh and Baalke not Kaepernick or Tolzien. They are building the best team that they can and doing their way, have faith that in the end the better player will win out, regardless of their draft status or how big their weekly paycheck is.
