Eventual changes that will be needed: Goodwin at center, Snyder at RG (going to happen, might as well be sooner than later).
Watch the film and dissect the errors at each postion so the guys all know exactly where their mistakes were.
Don't panic and draw rediculous conclusions about needed changes. Remember the Saints may be SB favorites.
I know Harbaugh doesn't want to show much during preseason but they may have to expand the playbook in order to keep the QBs alive.

First thing I would do is slap myself for making us watch Alex for another year.

Give boone sometime with the 1's. Staley the last two years has given up some awful sacks, and this game was murder.

If Smith is hurt, the team might be scrambling to find an old free agent that plays in the UFL. Kaepernick has a lot of natural talents, but he is still quite far from being a starter. Also, an unreliable offensive line will eventually change the way a quarterback operates, even when there is good protection later. Steve Young was an example of this. In Tampa Bay, he had to constantly scramble behind such an offensive line. When he came to San Francisco, it seemed as though the coaches had to spend many years convincing him to have confidence in the line and pass from the pocket. In that regard, Alex has been quite brave despite the bad offensive line history in recent years. Eventually, a few big hits can have the impact of changing the way a quarterback plays for the rest of his career. They also should be careful that Kaepernick doesn't lose faith in such a way.
What do you work on in practice this week? In what areas do you concentrate the most to improve upon and get ready for the next game? We all agree Harbaugh is a smart guy and will take what he saw tonight, make adjustments, and emphasize these changes in practice. What will those changes be?
There are a lot of things we need to work on, but, my God, the o-line was atrocious. I think he will work on picking up the blitz for sure and working the same group together to form some cohesion.
What say you?
On defense, Harbaugh shouldn't have too many complaints yet. They played as well as one would expect in the preseason. Aldon Smith was impressive and Dobbs did well against the Saints' 2nd team offensive line. Once again, the first team secondary wasn't tested too often this time and that will change. Harbaugh and Fangio will have to analyze them in practice.

Ya, I would get one of these guys. Sadly Davis is looking like a bust at RT. Maybe move him inside where you can mask his lack of speed a little. Heck, he false starts and the speed rusher still beats him.

The team just needs to keep practicing and get into football shape. They'll get better.

It is good to play a tough team at the very beginning because it shows where the most improvement is needed. In this case, the OL needs a lot of work on using better leverage in pass protection. Run blocking was fine, in fact, timing on some of the wide stuff was much better than I expected. The problem in pass protection came from standing too upright thereby losing leverage. Until that is corrected, this team has no chance of having a passing game. I detailed the issue of keeping DL hands down over in the OL thread. Too late and too tired to repeat it here...

By the way, why the F*(& is Chilo still in the starting lineup? He was getting abused by 2nd-string DLinemen.
So mike L stays. And we find 4 more hall of famers. Chilo lossing that weight was good, but i think the fat in his head keeps messing with his focus!
