This loss is on the offense. About a total collapsed in the 4th. It's a balanced between doing just enough to make a comeback to win the game and not doing too much to compound the mistakes and lose the game. And I think Smith and the offense tried that a couple time that I know of.

The long incomplete pass to VD on 3rd down, Smith had time. He threw it to VD into double coverage. Went for incomplete but could have been intercepted. It seems like a desperate throw to get something going. Whether he tried to give VD a chance downfield or didn't have anyone else open, it seems desperate nonetheless.

Another was when they were trying mount a comeback drive around the 20s. Smith tried to drop a pass into Crabtree between a DB and safety along the left side. It ended up almost intercepted by another defender crossing underneath. Seems like tripled coverage.

The receivers weren't involved much in the 4th. Smith needs to throw the ball with more confidence. Most of his passes came out looking like he don't want it to be there.

The defense collapsed in the fourth too but I don't blame them as much because they seem to be a little gassed after all the 3 and out by our own offense. The defense did a good job for the first 3 qtrs. Bummed out by the loss right now

It just looks to me that Alex isn't handling the pressure to well. Once the pocket starts collapsing, he tries to just throw it to whoever he can. But your right, the offense needs to score when the defense gets stops and that didn't happen tonite. The offense was moving the ball well in the first half but they just couldn't get it in the endzone and thats what hurt us. 3 FG's could have been TD's. The Ginn return to the 5 should have been a TD.

The only positives today was Special Teams but thats nto going to get us nothing if we can't score.

We will win on MNF because Ben and the center will be out and most likely Harrison will be suspended. Had they been at full strength we would probably lose.

If willis was in there today we would have won this game. Thats how good hes playing, Grant missed a huge tackle on Larry Fits today across the middle that went for 53 yards that P WIlly makes in his sleep.

I think Ben plays. This is a must win game for them. He will have plenty of rest before the Monday night game. He will just be immobilized a bit so we need to get pressure on him, no question. The Steelers know they won't win without Ben especially in SF. The AZ game and Baltimore game gives them the blueprint to beat us....send pressure and force Alex to beat you, which he can but not on a consistent basis.

the OLine needs a peptalk this week for sure.

To be fair, Grant was making the tackle when Goldson came in and hit GRANT off of Fitzgerald. That was the second time in the game where Goldson blew up his own teammate (Aldon SMith after forcing the fumble)

Willis would have gotten that tackle, maybe, but it would not have won the game for us. Fitz is unstoppable if the right throw comes is way, everyone knows that. Had our offense scored TD's instead of FG's early on.....thats what lost us the game. We were in scoring position several times and only came out with FG's.

The offense feeds energy to the defense and vice versa.....tonite....I just didn't see that energy at all. I hope the home crowd can give that to us Monday Night maybe help us remember what it feels like. Ever since the Ravens game....this team just lost something. It even showed it in the Rams game, even though we won that game.

I don't want Goldson to stop playing the way hes been playing, but he blew 2 or 3 plays vs Larry Fits today that cost us the game, but it has worked for him this season and he has played very well, but vs a WR like Larry Fits, you can't take that chance. That being said look at that play that Larry Fits made in the iddle and ran for 30plus yard After the catch, Grant flat out missed the tackle, P Willy makes that tackle everytime. The 49ers really missed P Willy today and would have won this game with him playing, thats how good Willis is.

This loss really bothers me for some reason. I hope we don't fall apart coming down the stretch

It's obvious we really need to get the passing game improved. Between Smith, the O-line, and the receivers, they need to get it together. I don't know why Williams wasn't more involved. He's the only one other than VD that had any significant time in the off-season with Smith. I think he could have helped. Braylon just isn't the answer right now. I know he has experience and past accolades but for whatever reason he's not the answer right now. And Ginn is just Ginn. He will always give you the good and the head shaking plays at receiver.
