A very good thing is that many had this as a loss before the season started and now it's a toss up. I had Dallas, Philly and TB as losses for the first five weeks and hoped the 9ers could go 4-4 by the bye. Now it seems that may be a low prediction. Wash and Cleveland wins would make it 5-3 and taking one away from TB would make it a likely 6-2. Would be ecstatic at that start! Detroit would be the biggest worry at this point but who knows...by then our team may be coming together, including the OLine.

I don't like to sound cocky, but I think we match up well against them.
Blount? Don't see him pounding the ball successfully against us. I doubt they even try much. The passing game? SF matches up poorly to the Eagles type of speedsters... but I think we can much better handle the TB ones. Fangio needs to dial up some pressure though... we can't let Freeman sit back all day to pick and choose.
Their defense is feeling good about rushing Painter... but he is Painter. As long as our OL doesn't badly regress, we will keep Clayborn and Co. at bay. We will threaten thier run D up the gut... so it's their choice whether to key on our RBs all day or not... and we must be ready to make them pay for whichever choice.
I think we got this... so long as we limit the penalties and turnovers.

We'll try to establish the run. That's a given.
Big difference from last year is that we have a QB who can pass to all fields.

The line has to keep Smith upright and open holes for Gore and Hunter. Get VD involved early and often in the passing game. Hope Morgan can run slants like the 30 yard TD from the Eagles game. WR make the catch and Smith doesn't panic we should be ok.

I agree. They have a good defense. Fast like ours. Josh Freeman can make plays running outside of the pocket. It's another week of running qb for the defense. Hopefully they can wrap him up. I think if we can stay with the coverage. limit his options downfield, he will check down in the area of our linebackers or run around some and make a mistake.

They are a good team, it could be a high scoring game unless we run the ball well. I was watching their D-line, and they are quick and light, except that one big fat b*****d, we gotta get him blocked, if we do Frank and Kendall should have a big day. On defense, this team worries me, much like the Eagles, they give our DB's a reason to peek into the backfield, that could allow those big WR's of theirs to get behind the coverage. Don't over look this Bucs team.

I think you are talking about DT Brian Price from UCLA... # 92, maybe. He's a load, yes... very stout and strong.

I like that they've got a short week and are traveling across the country. I'd love to see the Stick sold out! After a HUGE win, here is OUR chance to keep the momentum going. I'm gonna do my best to get there;)

Totally agree... If the Niners can keep the penalties and mistakes to a minimum they match up very well and should win this game. The Bucs allowed a struggling Colts offense to stay in the game when they should have been able to put them away early. This sets up nicely for the 49ers.

Don't forget that we have essentially 2 extra days to prepare as well. The Bucs played monday and they have to fly cross country and lose a day for travel.
