Honest Expectations of 2011 Season...

I expect absolutely NOTHING from this team until they prove they can actually be competitive enough to even think about playoffs. I will admit I was fooled this last offseason, I listened to all the experts that said the Niners would be a good team and win the division...I fell for it. They ended up being a team that could not win a division that sent a 7-9 team to the playoffs. I expect more of the same from this team, next season.

I reserve the right to change my opinion, and expectations when training camps open again.

If a new labor agreement gets done sometime before May and we can improve the roster through free agency in a timely manner and hold mini-camps to install the new offensive and defensive systems . . . then we should compete for the division title.

If the labor agreement is delayed until July or August, the development of this team will be delayed as well and I think we can pretty much write-off the 2011 season and expect another top ten draft pick in 2012.

When Sing was the coach most of our fans were adamant about us having a playoff team. Now that Sing has been fired and Harbaugh has been hire seems like our fans has changed their opinion about us having a playoff team. Why lose your intensity now that we have a new coach?

New system, new type of players needed...maybe? I'm excited for the long view but not in the short. Of course, I was not happy with the Sing or Nolan hirings so have more hope now than in the past. Many of us wanted a HC/OC and a HOFO. The HC/OC is here with good credentials but the HOFO is not and that is why my enthusiasm is tempered. Until Baalke proves he is capable of running the operation day to day there is still much to worry about...especially in a year as strange as this one might turn out (CBA).

One of the people who was underrated in the glory years was Carmen Policy. He could manipulate the rules with the best of them, giving the 9ers an edge. When he left the team was in cap trouble, so his rep was diminished; but he may have had some ideas that would have prevented the disater years. Can Baalke or Marathe be that cunning?

Not just you, don't take it personal, it just seems that the same people were going nuts last season and I was the stick in the mud. I couldn't see Singletary taking us far. Now we we have a coach most of us were salivating over, all the same players, a better O-line, a good draft position, and salary cap room, why so down beat panda bear?

I want to see this team succeed just as much as any other Niner fan but seeing is believing and until I see it actually happen I will not get sucked into the hype. With all the talent on the roster we should have been division champs but we all know how that worked out.

Pete Carroll had the same QB - an experienced veteran that knew the offense.

At present, we have no way of knowing who the QB will be. Half the board hopes it will not be Alex Smith and the other half just hopes they get someone with a pulse that is willing to hold the place until the next messiah arrives. That is very hard to get optimistic about no matter which side of the fence you are on.

playoffs, and nothing less. if the f**king rams, bucs, saints, atl, etc, can all turn around their franchise in one year and make the playoffs or compete for it, why can't we?

It will depend on the offense and if it finally opens up and becomes a WCO and the QB? And it can't be worse than Sing and Nolan!
