Good coaches put in long hours to study film of upcoming opponents in order to identify tendancies, how they will react to formations, down and distance and so forth.

This enables them to put in a good game plan.

Good coaches also put in a lot of hours looking at game film of their own team to not only evaluate indivdual performance but to determine their own tendancies, so as to not become predictable.

Clearly Sing didn't do much of either which is why the 49ers were outcoached every week.

The only reason the team was competitive was due to talent alone.

The title of this thread is misleading. I thought this thread was about the Fullback position.

I think this is all beating a dead horse. Singletary is obviously one of the most under-qualified and worst head coaches in the recent history of the NFL.

What you're looking for is in the writing of a columnist, not a beat writer. Maiocco depends on his good standing with the team to get the information he needs to do his job. Columnists, like Tim Kawakami, can write whatever they want, but they also aren't as "in the know" as someone like Maiocco.

Rest assured, if Kawakami or Cohn or Killion or any other columnist allowed to write about anything they choose were to have caught wind of this, it would have been written about long ago. It also would be followed with an uproar of "he/she's just hating" and "he/she's just an idiot trying to stir the pot" responses here on the webzone. If it's not optimistic, it's not accepted around here.

Exactly. Maiocco and his ilk would have absolutely no access and be black balled by the organization if they started reporting everything told to them "off the record". It would be like them reporting everything they see at a practice, which they are not allowed to report; a big no-no.

well well well ....i have a family and i work and i do need family time too...but if i got paid that much im sure my family would not mind me not being around so much during the season and would not mind occupying there time at the mall...im sure my wife and daughter would rather go shopping spending hundreds than at the mall with me and a budget of fifty bucks for the whole day heck id rather be at work come to think of it. i dont know how much dingleberry made but im sure it was more than 22 an hour..my office has no bed or tv my bldg has no shower and i definately could not bring my family to my work not even for a lunch...my family would love for us to switch places and so would i ...maybe thats what dingleberry meant when he said " i feel blessed to be in this position" when asked about being 0-5..still living like a king

You've not spent much time in NinerTalk over the last few months I take it? Prior to the appointment of Harbaugh, if it was not negative, it was not accepted there.

That being said, Singletary is history now and I prefer to look forward.

Not really. Guys like Kawakami and Cohn have such a history of writing opinion articles that when they do claim something as fact, it's simply ignored and regarded as baseless speculation. In addition, it's widely acknowledged that the aforementioned writers don't have the contacts in the organization of someone like Maiocco. This then subsequently leads to even more questioning about their sources when they try to portray a piece of information as fact. It's simply the bed that they laid.
