I wanted to start a thread to get some input as to were the fellow faithful think we lost our way during Coach Sing tenure.
1) Losing Mike Martz (If anyone says Jim Raye was a better choice stop lying to yourself) I wish that Martz and Sing could have got along.
2) Trading Shaun Hill. Without a solid backup we started the season 0-5 or changing at 1-6 because Alex Smith got injured.

The team failed when the ownership failed to understand that they had absolutely no clue how to build a winning football team.

There must have been a better option than Martz and Hill.
Where did we fail? Appointing TDon.

Like I said, Martz was a good balance for Singletary and had Hill played all 16 games, he projected that year to 3rd in the league in total yards. We saw him put up similar #'s this year with a much less talented offense in Detroit. All Martz had to do was meet Sing in the middle and add a couple pieces and get VD involved and there is your continuity folks.
The hiring of Sing was when all the problems started b/c of his poor philosophy and schemes on both sides of the ball.

I think we could have won with Hill if giving the proper support.
Our D was solid and Hill could make plays. I once compared us to the Ravens when they won with that D and solid play from Trent "Big Daddy" Dilfer.
We fell in love with winning "sexy" wanting former glory of complete domination. I would take winning ugly any day of the week.
Because as the saying goes, You know what the call teams on Monday that barely won a Super Bowl on Sunday, Super Bowl Champs. . .
