If you look at it real closely and you see how Manny head comes up just a bit as he hits him I'm starting to think the the NFL guys are seeing that as if defenders are trying to spear the guy when it looks like a natural reaction to me. That's all I can think of b/c the hit looked clean. Looked like a text book hit. You can't hit them low, you can't hit them high, and now you can't hit them in the chest?
This is an outrage! Goodell should be fined for "abusing his power and fining players without a good reason." I mean how the h*** is Manny supposed to hit this guy! If he had not gone full force Orton may have completed the pass. I say keep on hitting em' manny. Stick it to that good for nothing commissioner!!!!
the nfl is getting out of hand. why do they get paid millions if not to hit each other? that is what football is all about. this is so stupid in my opinion because it is not even a fine for the two penalties that he recieved. that right there verifies to me that the refs were wrong according to the league by flagging manny.
anyone see the hit james harrison got fined for THIS week?
It's become really absurd. It's a physical game. Let them play. And players who get injured also know the risks when they line up to play. Also they get paid a lot to take those risks. Big hits are part of football.

you know....if our guys can get fined for tackling?!? then why don't people like rocky bernard and that fool that drove smith into the ground this year get find for throwing there full weight into qb's while tackling? i mean, come on. one hit hurts and ruins careers just as fast as the other. tear a qb's shoulder and it could be the end. and it is obvious to me that driving a qb like both of those guys did tears up shoulders.
i know it is rediculous to say they should be fined for tackling smith that way but my point is that they are fining like they are now to "protect" qb's so why not fine for those type of hits smith got. kind of a ramble but does that make sense to anyone else?
