Yup. How on earth can anyone arrive at that conclusion? It's just nuts.
Damn I really miss Eddie D. Cant stand people taking away his accomplishments with the strokes of a key board and attributing the non existance of a salary cap as the reason for winning. He brought everything to the table. Most of the talent we had, we drafted. The difference is we paid our players better and treated them better.

But as much as I miss him, no thanks on the idea. The did NFL unfairly punished him in the first place.
We could make a bet with him!

While Eddie has ties to some of his old players, I cannot see why on earth he would want to take the Niners back. He has nothing to prove and he is rich.

1. This is ridiculous. Lock it.

2. Eddie D. will never own an NFL franchise again in his life.

3. Even if Eddie D. could own a franchise, there's no reason at all to assume it would be successful. We won under Eddie D. because:

a) There were no salary cap restrictions, and we simply outspent people.

b) We had a once-in-a-lifetime coach who revolutionized the way offensive football was played. This happens from time to time, defenses adjust, and then it happens again with a new revolutionary approach. We got lucky that the revolution happened once on our sidelines and in our gameplan meetings. Eddie D has @ss to do with it.

You're basically saying you want to give up your team on some absurd pipe dream that is not only impossible but laughably unlikely to create your desired results.

blarghhhh webzone.

Really? here is a short snippet from an article in early October.

And so, does he want back into the league? He said he still keeps in touch with a number of owners like Dan Snyder, Jerry Jones and Pat Bowlen.

“I talk to a lot of league people and they’ve urged me to come back in. I’ve had a group for 10 years or so that would look at buying a franchise. I’m pursuing all different options and there are a number of teams that could possibly be for sale. I’m in open discussions with some. I don’t need to own 100 percent but I would be the managing general partner.”

The no-brainer choice would be to buy the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In the early 2000s, he had people make inquiries with the Glazer family on his behalf but nothing ever materialized.

Would he ever return to the 49ers?

“I don’t think that would ever happen,” said DeBartolo. “That would have to be initiated by my sister’s family. There has been no discussion.”

pipe dreams are cute

Tell me about it, but would you trade all of our players for Eddie D?

Absolutely.

Willis, Gore and VD are our only elite players. Eddie DeBartolo would find the proper coaches and front office personnel. Under Eddie, we had a plethora of elite players. The trade would be worth it.

Too bad we can't just make it happen.
I don't believe Ed DeBartolo will be back this way at all. The SF 49ers of the Glorious past is just that for Mr. D....the past. Eddie might buy an NFL team in the future, but not the 49ers, not even if they became available. I'd like to see Larry Ellison buy the 49ers if they become available, he has enough dang money to build his own Stadium.

Also folks San Francisco will always have a NFL Team, even if the Yorks pick up and leave the Bay Area. The Yorks ARE the ONES who would get the expansion team, we would get the 49er replacements. The 49ers are a Historical team to the NFL...1st Professional Sports Franchise In California, 1st NFL Team in California, 1st Professional Sports Franchise in SF, and 1st 5 time Super Bowl Winner in NFL History.

The NFL will let the Yorks walk, but they will have to leave the Colors, & The Name, 49ers in San Francisco.

The problem is that this team still has pieces from the JOHN York era, including the QB and coaching staff. We need to purge the team of all this crap, and let Jed form the team through his uncle's vision......

I know Jed gets a lot of slack for the team's losing efforts, but the unit we field today is his daddy's 49ers, not his uncle's.

I hope this is sarcasm because if not then you believe the Team President is getting advise from his uncle This is 2010 and there are no uncles giving advice in the NFL!!! Well except maybe in San Fran.

It's not my habit to crack block a forum member, but you must be out of your mind. Of course Eddie wants his team back! Despite Eddie's many successes, what is known for? After being the best owner in the history of football do you really think he wants to fade away into the sunset? Of course not! I'd wager that Eddie would like his team back, pronto.

As for the Larry Ellison, everything he touches turns to crap.

Come on, you're smarter than this!
Hire the terminator to go after the york family?

@ BubbaParisMVP...dude I love Mr DeBartolo for making the Franchise a Winner, and I wish he was still the owner of the 49ers.

But Bubba you do know that Mr. D, and Doctor York hate each other. Heck Eddie, and his Sister Denise JUST started talking to each other last year, but Eddie, and John York don't like each other. Thats why I don't see Mr D coming back this way...and why would he want to. Ed DeBartolo has said many times he has moved on..

Send Yorks on one way trip to Crystal Lake on Haloween...

Eddie D. gets team back.

If the 49ers move to LA, the league likely won't give SF an expansion or a new team at all, unless some other team relocates here.

Furthermore, there's no guarantee that they'll make the organization leave its name, colors, and history here.
@ Area49...when the Yorks announced they were going to pick up the team and move to Santa Clara, for a Stadium to be built. I call the League Offices in New York, to express my displeasure at the thought of the 49ers leaving the City they have played Football in for 64 years. The Representative I talked to said, "We would never let the 49ers move out of SF, or the Bay Area...too much History with the City & the team.
I will hang my hat on that Area49.

The York Family has NO business running an NFL Franchise, yet alone dictating to the Faithful that they want to uproot the team from its namesake City. When they don't even live in the Bay Area, they are absentee owners, that know nothing about Northern California. And the connection that the 49ers have with the City of SF.
