I wonder if we still would have Gore as our RB if he fumbled 9 times out of 5 games?

In a way, I would like to see Carr start and play a game. Of course I would hope he would play well but it is more likely it would remind folks why he was picked up as a FA that no one else wanted. He holds the ball far too long as he waits to make a decision as to where to throw the ball.

I agree with this. The problem is that we have two of them on our team.

So 49ers backup plan is a fail as well? hmm...I sense that we'll be going 0-8 before we realize changes need to be made.

Why are we fans? We want to be entertained. It is like going to the movies - the suspense, the depressing outcome. Unless you are so stupid as to bet on games, does it cost you any money if your team loses? No, not for most of us. But this team IS entertaining. It provides drama beyond the ordinary. It has good guys and bad guys. It is a veritable cornucopia of emotion - high highs, low lows. The 49ers deliver!

I think Alex Smith needs a hug right now. Every time they show the highlights from yesterday, I feel so bad for him. * man hugs Alex Smith *

I actually feel Troy Smith is the best QB on the game day roster. He would easily be backup if he was here prior to Training camp.

Id be smoking the ganja too if I were in your shoes. I guess that time where you posed as Smith's mom and balked at us for being jealous of his success didnt do you any good, huh ?

Sorry, but I don't think they are very entertaining. There is a lot of boring football going on between the few flashes of excitement. I am quite bored when I see the offense turn over the ball a lot, or have to punt on too many drives.

It's not the OC. A legimitate OC who has been a very good judge of QB ability came to this team and didn't see it in Alex. He didn't even see anything to improve upon. He saw so little in Alex that he was willing to start another crappy QB over Alex Smith.
This is exactly what will happen if we get an offense coach over Singletary. I'm fine with the offensive-minded coach because it will mean Smith is done.
Also, how do we know Carr can't play better than Smith. What could Carr possibly do, turn the ball over 2+ times per game? Yes, that's how bad Smith has been playing.

This not accurate. It's a practice on the 'zone; posters that just make stuff up to bolster a position that they are taking.
The Giants wanted to resign Carr as a back-up. They liked his play. But Carr knew that he would never have a chance against Eli Manning. He wanted a chance to start. Singletary promised he would get the chance to compete, so he came here. Singletary lied.
I don't understand why posters are so denegrading of Carr. He has never proved to be worse that Smith. I think he may be better. But we may never find out.

Honestly, there isn't a QB in the NFL who can come in and play worse than Smith. Some just don't want to realize this.

Instead Ginn runs pell mell to the End Zone doesn't look back and the DB does.
Good play by the DB, bad form on Ginn and Smith looks bad on a play that every QB would look like a hero by one of the aforementioned Receivers.
We have Vernon and Crabtree for the outroutes and Ziggy can take the intermediate and Morgan and Gore can take Dumpoff and shallow routes. Ginn doesn't need to be on that field at that time. Solid returner. Sh!tty option at Receiver.

It was a bad decision to throw that pass, I like he was being aggressive, but he had Vernon open about 15 yards down field on a crossing route. I still say that the main problem with the offense is or young offensive line is still playing like it. If they could open holes on run plays or keep a clean pocket for passing, the offense would be very hard to stop.

I work with nothing but Bears and Cardinals fans, and all have told me the same thing as far as what they think of him. They all think that he is brilliant when he has to be. One of the Cardinals fans said, "You put him in that end of the game situation and he seems to black out and play out of his mind."
All of them think the same way I think about Smith. If he were to just let loose of all the thoughts in his head holding him back, he would be one of the best QBs in the league. The way he came out last night, there are not many QBs that would play like that. I commend him for it, and hope it carries over and he really does try to let loose.
