It was sad they were chanting for Carr there stupid he wont fix anything, in fact he will be even worse. I did like that they FINALLY showed emotion. The whole team should have been booed right out of the park not just Smith..
Shoulda chanted we suck lol

I have been to an Eagles home game. You should see what the fans throw at Andy Reid when he loses. Niners fans are tame compared to other teams' fans.

I don't think the crowd wanted Carr in to fix anything. They just didn't want to see dumb play.
It would have been classless to cheer if someone was hurt. Booing because someone is playing awful is just.

With that said, I dont blame Niner fans. The reality is that we've had to endure this s**t for 6 years, and its obvious that front management/coaching staff are in no hurry to turn things around. What else can we do except to embarrass the players/coaching staff ? It just goes to show how far this team has fallen from grace, and if it takes throwing snowballs at players, screaming profanities at coaches, etc. to get the message across, we as fans have no choice......it may seem classless (especially for an organization like ours), but its justified. I didnt hear Al Michaels or Chris Collingsworth say anything negative about it on tv yesterday, did you ?
I agree with your entire post, I felt bad for Smith yesterday. I've never heard boos rain down like that in Candlestick in a long time. I think the last time I heard something like that was when Garcia was about to get bench back in 2000.

They should have booed the entire team not just Alex. Im no backing the guy he played bad but that was fed up. Im tired of the rest of this s**tty team getting a free pass just because Smith is bad. There is 0 point in using Carr he is much worse than Smith and unfortunately Sing is to stupid to try Nate or Troy. So sadly our best option is (Smith>Carr) and actually using this teams talents in the correct formation.

seriously though.
What's Carr gonna do?
Fetal position and handoffs?
T.Smith is small by NFL QB standards.
N.Davis is retahdid.
Even if we gave up picks, starters, for a decent QB, we'd still be at 0-5
We's fu*ked.
Time to draft another 1st round qb

Watch film on Carr. He is plain awful he holds onto the ball way to long, and talk about check down people b***h about Alex Carr loves to check down. I got to watch him a lot when he played for the Texan,s he is not a good QB( not that Smith is) He has zero mobility and gets ratteld when pressure comes and we have one of the worst lines in the league! I'm not happy we have to stick with Smith but at this point because we will not see Nate he is our best option

You are 100% right, our stable of QBs is a joke!
Smith= Steve DeBerg
Carr is garbage, a total bust.
Troy is unproven, and Davis doesn't run the plays, he counts 3 scrambles and lets it rip!
Not picking up Trent Edwards (who is not really that good) is looking like bad move!
If we had Edwards we could at least be replacing Smith with a guy who has recently started in the NFL.
Sadly our best chance for the season lies with Smith! It will make perfect karmic symmetry, Alex Smith will lead us to the number one pick in the draft, and it will be his replacement!

The sad thing is, it seems the team has intentionally avoided getting anyone better than Smith recently. They know that Smith is no good to them if they have another "QB competition". So they have painted themselves into a corner, because they don;t want to have any controversy in the QB position. It's funny that we are still seeing this now, because Nolan did the same thing when he shipped out a better Tim Rattay in Smith's rookie year.
It all comes down to stubborn people still trying to save face on a very expensive decision on drafting Smith #1 overall several years ago. Because of that, Smith has survived a lot longer here than his play merits.

our offense is making our D play with no passion... you don't see it when they're on the field. it's like they aren't playing hard because they know they have no chance to win.

LOL. Alex Smith sure gave you fans the double middle fingers. You a*****es tried to bury Alex last night, but he once again showed that he can persevere when everyone is seemingly against him. You fans are truly the 49er Unfaithful, fair weather fans. Alex never gave up, even when the coach and the fans had.
As for Dingletary, he showed again that he is not a man of conviction. And I dont buy the BS Sing is feeding about he warmed up Carr to see what reaction he got from Alex. Sing was going to pull Alex until Frank and Vernon stood up for him. Glad someone had his back, because Sing tried to turn his back on Alex.
And best of all, Alex had the class in his interview to side with the fans that were booing him. He stood tall and took the heat. He could blast the coach for not opening up the offense, again, until we were down double digits. He could blast Frank for his fumbles and lack of production. Na, Alex takes it on the chin and takes the brunt of the criticism, because that's what leaders and quarterbacks do.
