WTF do you expect him to say? Dude is a competitor. Would you rather him say that we suck? If he doesn't think he can win every time he steps on the field then he shouldn't be out there. The guy backs up his talk on the field, and works harder that anyone on the team. This team needs a vocal leader, and Vernon is stepping up. Good for him. Hopefully he gets his boys fired up. I don't understand any Niner fan who doesn't--at least secretly--think we're going to win. Its one thing to be realistic: to recognize that we aren't the best team in the league, that we have glaring deficiencies, etc. It just seems, to me, a different issue entirely to go around actively thinking--even hoping--that we lose. Why do you watch if you expect to lose? The very fact that the games are undecided until they are played is what makes sports great: the unexpected, the improbable, the impossible. How do you enjoy this things if you don't go into the game with a certain hopeful confidence?
