I like your logic, but I'm pretty sure every 'greg jennings-esque calibur WR' out there is already signed with another team.
Did you see Dez Bryant? Even I, as a Cowboy hater, saw that he had what it takes to be a very good NFL receiver. He played fast and hard, and finished off his runs by trying to toss defenders with his strength. We could have drafted this guy. In fact, we could have drafted a lot of good receivers over the years. DeSean Jackson anyone? We passed on him twice, and every fan knew that pick was a no-brainer. Outside of the draft, we could have gone for a Brandon Marshall a year ago or even a Vincent Jackson today. This team is in terrible need of a game-changing receiver. We don't have that on our roster now. Crabtree can be a very good possession, and some YAC after the catch receiver, but he isn't going to be a game changer with the effort he has given us so far. Dez Bryant made that more clear to me than ever this past Sunday night.

Can we get Alex Smith a Greg Jennings of his own?

I can't wait for the day that Alex Smith is off this team so that we can move on from all of this back and forth B.S. about whether or not he is a good QB. Once he is gone and no team picks him up, all of the Alex Smith bandwagon fans will finally wake up and realize that this guy has been a complete waste of time for the past 6 years. It just frustrates me so much to have to see all of the Alex Smith supporters making excuses for this guy. So what if he's had several OC's for the past 6 years! Do you think a rookie coming into the league (ie., Matt Stafford, Sam Bradford, Joe Flacco, hell, even Mark Sanchez), is comfortable with the playbook and the offensive scheme right away. NO! they don't know crap, but they at least have some talent to be able to adjust to the new systems and do something to help their teams. Alex is in his 6th year and not once has he been close to performing at the level of some of those other guys. It's sickening!

And if you're someone who nags about Smith's high throws when the receivers don't catch them, imagine if he had a tall WR
I love kilgore. He cracks me up.
Uh, I am pretty sure that QB's who have a tendency to throw it too high have that same tendency with all receivers. So we can get a bunch of 6-5 dudes if you want...Alex will just throw it that much higher

I stopped reading your thread here
Did you see Crabtree play last year? He proved without a doubt that he has what it takes to be a very good NFL receiver...much more convincingly than a single game out of a rookie receiver up to this point..
the guy had a bad game, get over it..
In the first post I acknowledged that he can be very good, if he wants to. But since he has been drafted by the team, he has showed that money is his number one priority, he is afraid of contact over the middle, and he has a tendency to drop crucial passes, such as touchdowns and third down conversions. Too many fans have crowned this guy as anything more than a possession receiver.

Alex Smith is sorry and you can't cover that by blaming receivers. Even Reggie Wayne and Peyton Manning discuss routes but Wayne catches a lot of passes because Manning does not expose Wayne to injury. Smith threw so many high passes I was afraid the receivers would get hurt. A Rogers threw a high pass to Jennings but then Rogers threw a perfect ball to Jennings hitting in stride for a touchdown as well in the last game. Teams will continue to load up against the run because they know Smith can't beat them passing.
Crabtree has now missed two training camps in a row... two for two you could say. And while he played well last season, he also had a lot of costly mistakes. The majority of Smith's turnovers have been on balls thrown to Crabtree. That should raise an eyebrow.

I don't know man, I've been defending and supporting Smith for the longest time. It's pretty obvious that he just isn't an accurate QB and completely buckles under pressure. I'm pretty confident this is his final year in a niner uni
A lot of QBs buckle under pressure! Rodgers buckled under pressure last year on the final series against the Cardinals. First he missed Jennings wide open over the middle for what would have been almost a sure TD, and then he got sacked and fumbled away the game. That was a choke job. And no, it isn't a knock against Rodgers. It is just a a testament to the fact that QBs choke under pressure. And what seems to increase the odds of choking is playing for a not so good football team, which is what the 49ers have been for Smith's entire career. And yes, that is fair to say as of today because we just found out our coaches STILL cannot get the plays called in as they should be able to, and are in turn crippling our odds of winning PROFESSIONAL football.
At least Rodgers got his team to the playoffs and scored over 40 points in that game. Alex can't even score a touchdown yet. Rodgers didn't choke in that game either, he got hit by a blitzing corner. And Alex is the primary reason our team has stank the past 5 years.
He also got face-masked on that play.

seems like he is too much for rogers sometimes as well....rogers OVERthrew 5 yards vs phi....he does that quite a bit, but then again, he did great throwing 180 yards and 2 INT's
If it was that easy teams would be scoring 60 yard TDs on every possession. Rodgers missed way more of those passes than he makes. The big difference is the Packers call those plays more than once a game.
Exactly. It seems like most haters, not just of Smith, aren't very knowledgeable football fans.

lol, not every pass Jennings gets is in stride. He makes some spectacular catches.
It's going to have to be a spectular catch on a screen because Alex can't locate someone open down the field.

If Rodgers played like he did on Sunday all of the time you guys might to be onto something. But you're not. You accuse other people of being unknowledgable and then you base your facts off one game against Philly's spectular defense that always pressures the QB causing sub par QB play.
Here's the reality. Rodgers had a poor game last week, but games like that for him are few and far between. Last season he had 1 game with a rating under 80. Uno. He averaged a 100 rating for the season.
Trying to compare Alex to him is just laughable.

alex is afraid to throw the deep ball? where did u see that? alex was calling out the coaches this last week about not calling any explosive plays and he thrives in a spread type offense. i call bulls**t. i wish our coaches had the balls to call some plays like that

How is he a p***y? I mean dude, that's f**king retarded thing to say. He played with a grade 3 separation in his shoulder. You would have a hard time moving your arm if that happened to you. Just because he's not a great/good QB yet or possibly ever doesn't mean he's a p***y. At this point you're just calling him a name because you dislike him. MMA fighters are tough as s**t but would you want Kimbo Slice as our QB? Heck no.
